Hello, I currently have a 2021 Tacoma OF. I have some 285/75/r16 w/ Methods on 0 offset that I would like to install. I also eventually would like to add a bed racks and a roof top tent. I know very little about suspension and what I need (new upper control arms, coilovers, springs, etc). My question is, what do you guys think would be the best idea for my goal? I am wondering, would I be able to just buy fox shock coilovers and a reservoir setup and be able to run everything I want? Or do I need the whole setup to ensure all is good.

    For example: https://www.shocksurplus.com/produc...vzWqaNNjkTx_tNRx4EUSYRJPC_7R0g4BoCKyYQAvD_BwE

I want no rubbing while off roading on 285/75/r16 and not spend 5 thousand on a lift to get what I want. Is that possible? Please let me know. Thanks!

I just liked up on headstrong off-road. 6112/5160's combo with SPC uca's and progressive add a leaf are 2335. That leaves you with plenty of gas money from 5k.

Sunny forget extended break lines for the rear

And you may or may not need a cab mount chop

I was going to go with the Fox 2.0's but opted with going with the Bilstein 6112/ 5160 combo because I didn't think the Fox 2.0 would give me a 2" lift in the front. I thought the Fox 2.0 only gave a 1" lift in the front. I also have a TRD OR 4WD and am putting on Method 0 offset wheels with BFG KO2 285/70/17 tires.

@four22 Did you do anything else besides upgrade to the bilstein lift? I am trying to a good lift and my main focus is reliability and also have the ability put a RFT without it slouching.

I'm also adding an "Add-a-leaf". My truck has a shell on it and I'll be adding a roof rack to it. I use it for camping but instead of a RTT, I just sleep in a regular tent that's pretty easy to put up and take down.

@gudujarlson in that third video about myths, he says that’s you don’t need a lift to fit bigger tires. I had 285/75/r16 and am wondering if it will work with 0 offset?

the answer is, it depends. If you want 33” tires, 255/85/16 might work best with your offset and no cutting. Those are 33” skinny tires.

Colton @memario1214 can help you out at hotshotoffroad. He’s a good dude. Might be best to call and talk with him.

Thing is that I have the tires. I got some of a dude on Facebook selling a really good deal. They are 285/75/r16 scorpions. I want to get them on but just wondering how it would work. I would like to upgrade suspension later but I can put these on now that would be dope. Let me know

You are talking about 2 different things.

As explained in the videos, IFS ride height increases (aka lift) don’t fully prevent rub because they don’t change the path the wheel takes. They only change the starting point.

Offset (and tire width) increases the chance of rub because it causes the tire to take a wider arc.

There is a good chance 285’s will rub, but some have reported getting by. It depends on a number of things, particularly offset. You want to keep those tires as close to the UCA as possible and also as far forward as possible. See video on fitting big tires.
