My guys have been out to LC-12 and they said it looks to be where they are fabbing the main and substructure of the LH2 tank, nice setup, nice Snap-on everything out there. We have some breathing air stuff set up like they are doing IDLH atmosphere work.

 

Give it a few years, no more dusting and Swiffer will be out of business

I think it’s going to take a layered, multifaceted approach using passive and active methods along with “mud rooms” to keep regolith out and also remove it from interior spaces. Until we can, every landing site will be reminiscent of Pig Pen with his little dust clouds only they won’t blow away or settle very quickly. It will probably be an exasperating issue for single ship missions until we can implement actual moonbase infrastructure. I have to wonder also about how an increase in dispersed regolith affects operations if it has a tendency to get off the lunar surface (launches, landings, movement)much more readily than the reduced gravity brings it back down. We might be able to take advantage of existing electrostatic fields and solar wind to bias the movement of dust.

Worse that they failed to consider the point of reentry such that if it did survive where it could end up.

I wonder if the reason they’ve only done one wall on the flame trench ramp is for continued access around both sides for cranes, trucks, etc and eventually the ramp will be wide enough to drive vehicles up & around the right side under a ship without being blocked by the spmt support rails on the ship stand. After the deluge system is installed then they would finish the right side forms and backfill the rest of the ramp with the material they’re piling up there.
