This is a setup that I have never seen before. Older houses with hot water baseboard/boiler heating systems that have a separate central A/C are quite common. This house already had an existing oil-fired forced air heating system that was installed at the time of construction, with the furnace located in the basement. The central air was installed at a later date and a separate air handler, seen here, was installed in the attic...

 

This is the oil furnace, also a York which I do not think is original to the house, but it utilizes the original ductwork from the 1950s...

I scored this Amana window A/C unit for free, with the intention of scrapping it; I decided to plug it in and see if it works, and it blows ICE COLD. I am going to take it apart, clean it up, and install it in my girlfriend's room!

 

This fridge was disgusting inside, and it had no refrigerant in it when I cut the line, so I just scrapped it...

 

A stove is not HVAC equipment, but I'll post this here anyway because it came from the same house as the York that I'm getting; I also sent this to appliance heaven...

 

The "York" house also has this wood stove that I am going to be scrapping...

 

And this dehumidifier was also in the scrap pile from the "York" house...

This 3-ton York heat pump from 1993 is my latest HVAC acquisition; I paid $75 for the complete system...



However, I've done great this week and believe I will get at least $150 for everything once I break it down and sort it. The current owners bought the house in 2019, and the indoor unit would turn on, but the fan in outdoor unit allegedly never even came on. We tried to turned it on, but the thermostat had an electrical problem and wouldn't stay on. I took a game and snipped the line, and the unit also had like no Freon in it; I have a very good idea of how this happened, which I will get to momentarily...

The original house was built in 1959, and numerous addition were made over the next thirty years or so, the current house has four separate central A/C systems. The York that I bought, and the Bryant seen next to it, are both heat pumps with electric backup heat...

 

The Payne seen off in the distance is a straight-cool unit with a gas furnace, and there is a 2018 Goodman straight-cool on the other side of the house (not pictured) that is also matched up with a gas furnace...

This 1993 York was hardly the most expensive system you could get at the time, but it was still very good. However, this has got to be one of the worst fucking installs that I have ever seen! Rather than using a downflow air handler and coil, the moron who installed the system put in an upflow unit upside down!



That wire seen in the last picture goes to the thermostat that didn't work...
