AERO AT2525XL VS. 2525

I am not extremely familiar with a resonator. What is the difference between these two, sound, performace, etc.



What is your opinion of either of these compared to other brands?

 

No one has any opnion on any exhausts?

 

basically looking for an exhaust, just don't know what to get???????????????????/

 

i just got the aero 2525xl installed with a free tip, thanks to the deals we had with aero exhaust in march, i love it, there is no rasp, great deep tone and it sounds mean...

i have read reviews that the aero 2525 (non resonated) is a lot louder and raspier...

2525 sounds good. Nice deep tone. I have a flowmaster 50 series and the 2525 is alot deeper... Stupid flowmaster... they sound awesome on my mustang but didnt work out that great on the taco.

 

Is that pretty much the amount your going to pay for a quality exhaust? What are the other good ones?

is the 2525 a muffler not an exhaust. That is all I really want to do. I want to get a nice sound and improve mpg a bit.

why does website say this is for people who want it to sound stock?

 

I have the Flow Master Super 44 and love it. Its loud with a deep growl...you won't see much performance gains from any exhausts...it'll just sound like it

 

Cuz the resonater makes it a lot quiter, get the 2525

 

eh thinking about the 2525xl. heard it still sounds good and cuts out the rasp.. any comments??

There is some vids of the 2525, and one or two of the XL on here. Just do a search and you shall find. I have the XL, and it sounds great with no rasp.

Anyone install it themselves? I am going to have someone else do the welding but for the most part I will be installing it.

 

I didn't install my 2525XL myself but the muffler shop let me stand next to the installer.
You need a 2ft section of pipe and two hangers.
A sawzall to cut out the OEM parts.

The OEM muffler has a offset intake. You need the 2ft pipe to eliminate the curve before the muffler. The hangers are on the muffler so you need to install new ones on the pipe.

Cut the OEM pipe right before the offset and right at the outlet of the muffler. Install the 2ft pipe and muffler. Weld on hangers.
If you install the new tip, cut off just enough of the OEM exhaust tip so the new tip extends past the qtr panel. Don't want to trap exhaust fumes and condensation underneath.

The 2525XL sounds very nice. I don't think I would have liked the plain 2525. The XL is just loud enough not to be obnoxious to old ladies and local roadside tax collectors. In idle and cruise you can barely hear it. Punch the Go pedal and heads turn.

On a related note. It took the sawzall about 3 seconds to cut through the muffler pipe. In case you were wondering how long it would take for Homey to get your catalytic converters.

Does the pipe entering the muffler have to be straight or did you just replace it so it lined up correctly?

Did you need an adapter so the pipe sizes would match?

So you are leaving the existing pipe after the muffler to the tip? Another pipe adapter needed?

Where can you buy new hangars? Autozone etc.

 

I have the 2525. I did my install differently. I went around asking multiple people how to do this the best and what I came up with was cutting the pipe right in front of the stock muffler so I can make use of that space to have slightly more ground clearance on the muffler. Then added a couple inches of piping on the front of the 2525 so it would reach the (muffler back) stock pipe after I cut the stock muffler out right where the piping started again. You can keep the hanger in the far back that attaches to the exhaust pipe after the rear axle and use that as a pivot point and rotate the pipe so it reaches the outlet of the 2525. Then weld new hangers on the inlet and outlet of the 2525.
