Caveat -- feel free the flame the noob or point me to a FAQs.

I am getting my '24 TRD Off Road in about 6 weeks. I am wracking my brain trying to figure out what to do from a tires perspective. I have owned all kinds of trucks with varying types of lifts and tires (from no lift and stock tires to a 6" lift and 35s) -- all of those being full sized Tundras, F150s, Sierras, etc. I am leaning towards a levelling kit and 17" wheels -- where I am confused is what to go with for tire size? Not only from a "what will fit w/o tons of trimming" but also from a ride quality perspective.

Again, feel free to flame but would really like some insight from you guys on what I should do. Thanks in advance.

Use it as it is and see what happens.

    Maybe stock is fine.

A plus size tire of different type and you may be hunky dory.

+1 to what Bill said. Drive it OEM for a while and see how you like things for a while before changing it right away.

Alternatively, don't listen to us and go cruise the 4th gen forum and see what the latest gossip is. Appears in my quick skimming that 2nd/3rd gen wheels aren't going to play nice due to some changes on 4th gen. Suspensin wise who knows it's all new.

Congrats on your gen4 Taco! How exciting it must be. Many forum members have gone with the 285/70R17 size tire, because it fits without mods and a 17x8.5 6-139.7 wheel with either a +25 or +35mm offset. The look is square with the fender and looks fantastic. The BFGoodrich KO3's are available in that size as well.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
Check out Icon shocks on YouTube, they test a bunch of wheels to see what offset works best for 33s, 35s on the 24 Tacoma.

    Boosted,
Im in the same boat as you & having a really hard time. My driving skills suck these days & I hate body roll...
I should have bought a lexus IS 350...:D
Theres stuff / options out there & heres my dilemma:
Im not lifting the rear, its high enough.
I dont want any rake & ill take the front higher than the rear vs having rake, think it looks better that way.
1.5" leveling kit you will still have rake...
Peak suspension makes a 2.25" front lift
    Westcott makes a 2.5" lift
I have the westcott lift on order, but no idea if it will look excessive if I just install the front portion???
I know were only talking 1/4" difference between the 2, but stressful to spend the money & have it installed & not know what its going to look like till after its done.
I dont even think im going crazy with tire size, I saw a 23 offroad in the gym parking lot with wildpeak 265/70/17's & seemed big enough to me, which is a stock tire on your ride.
That may all change once I see a few, but I have a lift inroute so I may be running out of time..
Theres actually a few dealers out here in san diego that are starting to implement lifts before being sold, wescott did one & 4wheel parts did a readylift leveling kit, havent seen them though.
I could be completely wrong & a 265 or 275 may look dumb after its lifted...
Sorry, not much help, just random thoughts im trying to maneuver.

lots of info on youtube where they lifted many 4wheel drives over at westcott designs, various offsets. if you dont want the poke 25-35+ offset is where its at, its all over at westcotts utube page.
recent video shows i think a 35+ offset for a guy named Jordan, 1" poke

    Depends on 2 things:
    1) What you want to do, e.g., daily driver & weekend warrior, expensive car camping or ("overlanding" :puke:), rock crawling, look really cool hauling groceries, pick up romantic partners :anonymous:, and the list goes on.
    2) What's your budget? You could build weekend warrior with Bilstein 5100's, OME springs, Icon AAL, and decent 33" AT's for under $2.5k... then add as you go, eventually upgrading hangers, wheels, UCAs, etc. Alternatively, if you're more masculine than me, you could max out a credit card with remote reservoir Icon/Fox/King shocks, springs, and UCAs, and bronze Method 305's on 35" ATs.
