I figured it makes sense to get this done whether I keep it or sell it. People just keep lowballing me when I tell them about all the issues. I guess I should just post it and say “runs great no issues!” Like most everyone else when they sell one. The vast majority of them need the same deferred maintenance at this age if it hasn’t been done already, in which case they’re probably not getting sold.

The rack and lower control arms should be together, not 4 hours each

Shouldn't the UBJs and springs/coils at least have an hour reduction since they'll already have the front end torn apart as well?

I don't want to open a can of worms, but if you're still driving it, I can't imagine, "all of the issues," are incredibly severe?
Old truck is old. Shit leaks, it grumbles, it gets a little arthritis. Luckily on these it isn't usually catastrophic.
If they keep low-balling, then pay to get all of that done, have it detailed, put it on an auction site with honest info and receipts and wipe your hands of it. You'll likely come out better than you would from CL or Marketplace.

And even for resale, I doubt it would add enough to cover what he'd pay for it.

Yeah definitely don't want to make him delay what is needed, but if the rest is just going to drain you financially you can space it out. Kind of seems like you fell into a bit of a WYIT, maybe not with a locker, but front/rear springs seem to have come out of nowhere and those parts aren't cheap.

My truck has a long list of things to do, including a couple on your list like LCA bushings and UBJs, and I've just been picking at them one at a time. I'm not all that worried about either one of those, and don't have the parts on the way or even sitting in a cart. But I'll get to them eventually.

In the end they all will need to be addressed, so if you're comfortable with it and just want it done then do it.
Doesn't seem like you're getting explicitly screwed over here.

Maybe it was 8 hours total for the arms and rack.

Well I definitely have to get that pinion seal fixed and get it to hold an alignment before I drive it for significant distances. Would an auction site really accept a truck with 250k miles on it?

Yeah I'm the same, there are always small things to sort, but since it isn't going anywhere I just space em, unless its more serious. For him, if he's gonna sell it, couldn't hurt to knock it out if he's cool with the investment.

You've mentioned auction more than once; why does that phrase exist when talking about these vehicles (outside of mint/exceptional condition and low mileage)?

I've actually attended auctions and see what goes in/out and where/how.

With that said, I have to ask why does the term auction get mentioned when talking about your truck?

Does your truck hold an alignment then? I just don’t wanna wear out my expensive tires prematurely.

Yes, they will. Plenty of older Toyotas sold on BaT andothers with higher mileage.
Besides, worst they can say is no.

I think he was suggesting I try to put it on BAT or Carsand Bids after I get all the work done.

Ah that auction; I had to ask because you've mentioned auction before when talking to your used car dealer near you.

No need to get yourself ripped off is all I'm saying.

I mentioned it to him re: if he gets all of that work done and still wants to sell it. He mentioned he kept getting low-balled locally. Plenty of Toyotas with that mileage have done okay models on eBay, C&B, BaT etc. If it helps him squeeze a few more bucks out of it, its not a bad decision.

What happened to your $5k unfixed offer/$6k fixed offer?

That was a great offer you got.
