She's seen his decline, but I haven't told her (yet) how he's doing today as that'll disrupt her at work

I'll have to say something during her lunch though; we got her friend's wedding this Saturday too and got shit to do tomorrow

They said if he couldn't stand on his own that he'd need to go to the ER

I got him outside a few times; he just refuses to stand up but he can and will walk

Hasn't eaten but at least is drinking water

Appointment set for tomorrow morning

 

Talked to the wife too; she said she too has been noticing it already especially lately

Sucks when they get old

Hoping to hear it's something else tomorrow at the vet but we'll see

As a positive note, our cat's health was in decline (not eating or drinking water)- we thought it was just stress from the move, but after some blood tests it was mainly kidney failure along with a few other aliments. We didn't think the cat was going to make it. Started the cat on some meds, and she bounced back to doing normal cat shit. Longer term we know it's just a bandaid to the larger under laying problems, but it's buying us more time. And importantly we didn't lose the cat right before our kiddo was born, and more importantly for my wives postpartum health not anytime in the next few months...

 

Yeah it's why I said 'hoping' but we need to be realistic as well

He's old, he's had two back surgeries, he has hip/back issues, and when my wife had our baby we dealt with far than expected (hospitalized for over 2 months straight)

It's her first dog, and she's had him since he was a puppy so she's super attached to him

Hope for the best, prep for the worst though

I don't know much about it, but isn't there a new 'miracle drug' in the works/testing for cats with kidney issues? I remember seeing things about it in the past year and how its supposed to basically double their lifespan since kidney issues happen to basically every cat.
No idea if its available for regular people yet or still in testing though. Might be worth looking into.

Are we all going to meet up at the same Depot? And I am with Jackson, can we do Lowes instead.

 

Pro's for Lowes - not many people

Pro's for HD - carry what I want/need and much closer

 

Horses for courses- I luckily have both near me. Generally prefer HD, but knowing when Lowes has better prices or products is also important. Used to be able to get Minwax products at HD, but they switched to Varathane. So Lowes for the win there. Lowes also has Mapei products where HD does not, so gotta go there to color matched grout and caulk.

 

We don't have a Home Depot

 

After mowing the weeds down it looks like we almost have a lawn in some places

 

That is the one nice thing about Depot. There's a lot of them closer but I'm more partial to Lowe's just because I built most of them on the West Coast.

 

One thing I noticed since moving to the apt is how much more time I have in my life now that I don't have to take care of a lawn. Makes me think of I ever own a home again I want to hire someone to take care of it for me. But that's a dream, just like owning a home.
