Go test ride it. Let me know what you think. Input from an actual rider would be great on any of these bikes. All I've been allowed to do was put a leg over one and start it up. I liked the feel, could stand well enough to be comfortable with the seat in the low position, and got to slightly look at the dash menu stuff. I didn't get to play with the suspension, which I might have been able to soften up to let it squish more and give me even more confidence at a stop. Reeeeeally wanted to ride it, but no dealers anywhere near me to test rides. It's the lamest shit ever.

It's just bigger than what you are used to. I bet you'd like it if you rode it... at least that's what I told her!

The Super Tenere is only heavy on paper. They did some really slick engineering to keep the weight down low, so it rides much lighter than it is. Every review, every owner, everything I can find anywhere says that as soon as it's moving enough to get your feet on the pegs, the weight vanishes. Hell, the only negatives I find from anyone is that it's so stable, and just chugs along so readily, that it is "boring" for people. The only people I see sell them are those that want more dirt and are going to enduros or dirt bikes, or those that want a sport bike. Well, and then the one guy selling a Super Ten and an Africa Twin because he's getting a divorce and needs the funds.

i dont doubt that i just find no interest in them for looks reason lol could be the best bike in the entire world but its looks are just bleh to me and ill never buy it! ktm sport bikes are a hard one for me since i like everything but the dang headlight! but that at least can be changed lol

Just buy a Husqvarna. Same thing as KTM with different looks.

I totally understand not liking the looks and such. I'm not pressuring you to buy one, and I honestly think the T7 is wasted unless you do the majority of your riding off road. If the majority is on road then it's price point offers bikes that will do it better, IMO.

Sounds like you got priorities in order. Family, kids, debts first, then enjoy a hobby as funds allow. I really dont see anything wrong with this unless you need to save for a bigger purchase in the future!

LOL never noticed that, looks like the 2024's come with LED turn signals, but yeah surprising they ever came with old incandescent ones. Especially considering the super tenere has had led turn signals since 2014.

So when I got the bike home I swapped the completely worn out tires to some Continental ContiTrailAttack 3's front and rear. They are a 90% road 10% off road tire that I use 99.5% of the time on road and they have done great, and did pretty decent on the limited dirt riding I have done. I ride spiritedly in the street and they grip amazing and have worn decent. At ~5k miles of use the front still has a bunch of life the rear is about done and will be getting replaced with a Michelin road 5 that I got a deal on and has been sitting in my garage for a few months here soon.

I use the bike like stated 99.5% of the time on the road in the canyons so Ill likely end up on something like the Michelin Road's front and rear at some point, but if the right deal came along for the Trail Attack's id buy em again.

im fine with the ktm dirtbike headlights its just the duke 390-1290 headlight that they put on everything! like come on do something different pleaaase lmao i do love the 890 or is it 790? idk i like it a lot but dislike the headlight lol

ye i fully get it lol but ya the t7 is neat and even offroad id rather have a dual sport personally... i just dont see a point in the t7 for my riding style ya know? dirtbike/supermoto for offroad stuff and sometype of naked bike or low cc sport bike to rip around town.

my friend with a T7 says he loves my AT way more. The T7 is top heavy. Ill try to get some pictures the next time, but the exhaust runs under the engine. On my AT, the exhaust is on the side, and the engine is down low.

i have heard that from my buddy about the t7 but the good thing about the t7 is its very much a large dirtbike thats what i like about it so much. the at and st are more adventure bikes that can do some offroading. out of those two i do prefer the at but wish the transalp was a true smaller at because then id be more interested in it...

Thank you everyone for the wisdom. Thank you for the advice and support. Thank you for the examples in your lives of the same situation that make me and others not feel alone.
I think this might be that midlife crisis that I have heard talked about before. Along with my real life changes and choice to go down a path of healing my body and mind.
I am my own worst critic for sure and have always been that way. I think that is why I have anxiety but also able to overcome a lot of my shortcomings.
TLDR: When I was 2 my mom and dad divorced. I never saw my dad or had a relationship with him at all which was his choice. My mom met my step dad when I was 3. They were married when I was 8. He was an alcoholic and very verbally abusive. I was told constantly that I wasn’t good enough and couldn’t do anything right. My mom divorced him when I was 14-15 . She dated a few losers and I became more defiant. She met her husband now and he was a real nice guy. My older brother who was 1 1/2 older was graduated Highschool in 1984. He asked my mom if he could invite my real dad. She contacted him and he said yes. So I met my dad for the first time when I was 16. So that summer we reconnected. He ended up buying me off with a car and drivers ed. That’s how I saw it. Anyway I started my senior year being a defiant confused child with a car. Started skipping school and ended up getting suspended. My mom and real dad had a meeting with the school and came to an agreement I would move in with my dad in Redmond and transferred schools so I could keep my credits. It was ok for a little while until I started testing my dad. Missed school a couple times and one day came home and my stuff was outside. Kicked me out. Tried to go back to my moms and she said Nope. Had another family meeting. Was given one more chance. Well I made it through school and graduated in 1985 @ 17yrs old. I went back to my moms that summer and started fucking around , drinking partying ect. My mom said get a job start paying rent or get out. I ignored her and came home one day to find all my stuff in the yard. Took my stuff and lived in my car for a couple weeks. Not fun. Went home to talk to my mom and was given the option to Join the coast guard. My older bro joined the year before, my mom was an active reserve and her boyfriend (husband now) was a senior chief. So I left home @ 17 joining the Coastguard reserve. I turned 18 in boot camp. I was 5’9” and weighed 150lbs and was a child among men. Was a real eye opener and a growing stage in my life. After I graduated MK school I came home for a month or so and was hired by NOAA as an engine room “fireman” on a 236’ ship. Did that for 3.5 years. Been to Alaska, Panama , Norfolk, Baltimore, Miami, Pensacola, New Orleans, St. Petersburg, Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda, Iceland, the Azores Islands, Barbados all before I was 22. Quit the ship to move to California for a girl. That didn’t work out. I ran a component saw cutting web truss pieces at at roof truss plant. Was there for less than one year. Came back to Washington with no job and very little money. Loved with my uncle who was a drug dealer (Cocaine and weed) and got a job at a roof truss plant and washed dishes at a restaurant. Got caught up in the drugs and started selling coke. Lost my job, girl friend and got strung out on drugs. Always made money from selling so that wasn’t a problem. Woke up one day after being on a 4 day binge and actually had a conversation with myself in the mirror. Asked myself WTF are you doing with your life. This isn’t what you want and it’s time to grow the fuck up. I moved out with my best friend from Highschool and started a roofing job that summer. Met my wife during that time. My best friends step dad was in the drywall union and got my friend a job. I asked if he could do something for me? He didn’t like me much but got me a temp job stocking ceiling tile on a job for a week. I showed up day one, skinny weak but willing to do whatever. It was a 4 story building and I had to stock each floor with 120 ctns of tile each. The tile weight was about 50lbs per ctn and the elevator was not in service yet so that meant I had to hand pack up the stairs. Every day I came back and the general contractor was impressed. It took me all week to finish and I was fucking beat. I asked the guy I was stocking for how do I get into the union? He pointed to a guy MIKE that was the apprenticeship board. I went up and introduced myself and asked. He said I have been watching you all week. You are a hard worker and we could use a guy like you working for us. He said his boss was on his way down to hire me. I started the apprenticeship program that next Monday and the rest is history. Worked my ass off for 31.5 years. My girlfriend (wife) and I met just before I got in the union and moved I together shortly after. So I worked as an apprentice during the day and delivered pizza at night to make enough money. After two years I was making enough I was able to quit the pizza place. Fell back into drugs early on a couple times and that was the very first time my girlfriend (wife) said if I came home high on coke again she would leave. Never touched it ever again. We saved up and bought our first home and got married. I didn’t want kids and she said the same. She had a pregnancy scare and asked if I would get a vasectomy. So I did. Made it ok to the 7 yr mark. I was very selfish at that time and didn’t appreciate what I had. Came home on a Friday from a work meeting and she was gone. I freaked out. This is not what I wanted. Decided at that time to turn to God and get my life and wife back. It took 6 months for me to finally win her back. It was a brutal 6 months, had to sell our home. After we got back together we talked about kids and I got my vasectomy reversed. We moved into an apartment for a year and ended up getting pregnant with our first son. We bought a townhouse, I quit working for just over a year to stay home and help raise my son. We had set our selfs up to live on her income. She worked from home as an insurance underwriter. After that I went back to work and we bought our house we live in now. Had our second son 4 years after that. Life is not easy and takes an absurd amount of work to sustain the relationship we have which is stronger than it has ever been. Lots of things happened to me like breaking my back, shoulder, rotator cuff surgery, broken ribs, broken left wrist multiple cuts throughout my career in construction. I am blessed to be able to retire at 55 because I don’t think my body could take anymore.
So yes midlife crisis sounds about right. The ride isn’t over yet and I have a lot of life left to live good or bad I will take it all on. I know super long read but necessary for me to heal.

Man, it's friday and I feel like picking fights :curls:

I think the Tenere 700 is overrated. There I said it. It looks good, but I'm underwhelmed everywhere else.

My 2010 F800GS is, a 14 year old bike and even older model:

    - Basically same wet weight (ok 3lbs heavier)
    - 10 more hp
    - more suspension travel
    - more electronic features (while still being below the "oh shit I can't repair this" threshhold)
    - same gas tank size (but the F800GS is UNDER the seat, real low down COG)
    - lower RPM and higher lb ft peak torque (59lbft at 5750 vs 45 at 6600rpm on the T7) (cycleworld real world dyno charts)

    T7 has
    - the cross plane crank and 270degree firing order, which helps off road and makes it sound better
    - 18" rear
    - stock adjustable suspension
    - the raised countersprocket

    Whats so special?

    :crapstorm:

Maybe I'm just bitter and feel like the F800GS has been hugely slept on for a decade :anonymous:
