I have a line on a set of used bolt-on sliders with a 7 degree angle. Being the ignoramus that I am, the angles continue to confuse me. The flat (or zero degree) angle I think I understand. They just straight out from the frame. Right?

But which direction does the 7 degrees go? Upward or downward? Is this consistent between brands?

The person offering them for sale took them off of a 2nd Gen, but says they will also bolt to my 3rd Gen. Is that correct?

Please forgive me if this has been answered a zillion times before.

Goes upward. Might vary slightly between brands. Angle is for improved ground clearance.

You need to provide more information, like brand, model, and year of the sliders.

I can say that I have never heard of sliders that angle down. I also have never heard of 7 degree sliders. That’s very minimal. I believe mine are 20 degrees.

I’m skeptical that 2nd sliders will bolt on a 3rd gen without drilling holes in the frame.

They all angle upwards, so whatever angle degree you’re considering it would be away from the ground.

    I've seen 5, 10, and 20 degrees on sliders.

I don't think most 2nd gen sliders even bolt onto 2nd gen without needing to drill into the frame, unless you are willing to sacrifice some strength on them? i could be wrong on that. But I know mine required some drilling from the underside

As far as fitting. I would think it should work but you'll probably need to drill, though the 2nd gen sliders may be a little short on the 3rd gen body/frame. 3rd gen is a longer truck

    Makes sense.

Yeah, I wonder also about a Gen2 fitting a Gen3. The set for sale is made by Avid Off Road. I can't tell anything about interchange from Avid's website.

Make sure they're the actual frame bolt on sliders from them, as they also used to sell "slider/steps" that bolt to the rocker panel and will offer no extra reinforcement over traditional sidesteps.

There's no question that these bolt to the frame.

Toyota does not make sliders for the taco, but aftermarket manufacturers have used some creativity to use existing holes (not intended for sliders) in the frame to make bolt on sliders. I doubt the holes line up 2nd gen to 3rd gen as I believe they have different frames.
