Meh, I wouldn't let it eat at you too much. Sounds like the important things in your life are in order and accounted for, so why not blow some scratch on the hobbies? We are always our own worst critic, as you said.

I feel like that's just human nature...you acquire something new, you enjoy it for a bit, it loses it's luster, you look for the next shiny thing. As long as it isn't happening at a detriment to your own sanity, finances, health, or that of people around you, have at it.

If you were of the mentality of not blowing so much on stuff, then sure you'd have a stockpile. that you still wouldn't blow on anything. So at that point it's a matter of what's more important to you...money or experiences? Personally, I will choose experiences every day. I wouldn't trade a single one of the memories i've made on my bikes for the money i could have held onto. Except maybe the recent accident by my buddy lol

Just finished reading your last post as well. Thank you for sharing, that can't have been easy to put out there. You've been through the grinder and come out the other side better for it. I wouldn't stress too much on enjoying your hobbies with the leftover funds you have, you've earned it, and you are doing so responsibly.

Yamaha reliability/cost of maintenance maybe? not to say that BMW's aren't reliable, but the stereotype persists.

i feel like BMWs are appreciated, just discarded due to cost of ownership.

Remember guys...all bikes are good bikes, and we don't discriminate in here

Yeah, it does have a bit higher cost of maintenance, but in reality it isn't outrageous. And BMW cars are unreliable, bikes are pretty bulletproof though. I'm at 44,XXX something I think?

I think if it was released as a brand new model (not a refresh, rehash, whatever and now things are super confusing with F650, F700, F750, F800, F850, F900 names being all over the place) it'd be a hit. I also think timing of the release was weird. After long way round in 2004 the R1100GS's were the king and the F800's were super slept on and stayed that way, middle child bikes.

Again though, I just don't see the god-like status of the T7 that the internet seems to give it.

But yes, all bikes are good bikes, I'd ride them all if I could. If you're cold, they're cold, bring them home.

Certainly, I have nothing bad to say about BMW bikes...58k on my S1k lol.

I was pretty stunned to see the MSRP of the F800 is lower than the Tenere 700 actually. I also never quite got the hype of the Tenere line altogether, but that's the beauty of options, there's something for everyone. Would still happily ride one if someone handed me the keys lol

If you want a smaller TA look at the CB500X. Since you are not opposed to mods you could do a Rally Raid kit and it's a shockingly capably all rounder.

Oh forgot to tell you guys I went out on the monkey yesterday and wow was it ever faster.
Last time I rode it I was in the 208-210 lbs range. Now at 191ish it is crazy how much faster it feels. Was able to hit 60 on a flat with more to go which I couldn’t do before with my weight. Talk about an incentive. I think I will be able to install the one tooth larger front sprocket again and it will be able to pull better. Can’t wait to see what it would do when I loose another 25lbs. ‍

That reminds me I still need to get on installing the aRacer you sold me. My new goal for the weekend is to order the o2 sensor bung to get that project rolling.

If you were closer I would weld it on for you. I did mine and it wasn’t hard. Well you do need a mig welder with gas.

The best way I found to use a flux core wire is not to try a continuous bead but rather go around with spot type welds right next to each other. That way it’s easier to control the heat and splatter.
    Anyone else have advice?

Especially on a thin exhaust, yup! I have some scrap/junk exhausts I can play with before I do the real deal, not too concerned about it, just need to do it to it.

Tomorrow Im heading out with some KLRs, a GS1250, and a Honda 300 to explore some fire roads. Hope the KLRs can keep up on the highway to get to the national forest. The 300 is riding in a truck, and the rest of us will be on the highway.
Big reason why I got the AT was because its a minimum 1hr to get to gravel/dirt. I wouldnt want to be on a smaller bike that needs to be on a trailer to get anywhere fun.

Still looking at bikes but not really that serious. I found a super clean Honda super hawk 996 for sale. It has all the good mods so really needs nothing. Asking price is a bit high though.
My first stop was the motorcycle riding position site and holy crap it is just as aggressive as a cbr929 and only a couple degrees less than a GSXR 750. Big no go..
the bike does look bad ass though.

I feel like the T7 is in a slightly different realm than the BMW's (which are fantastic bikes btw). T7 i see as a "big dirtbike". Something one could ride a bit on the street then go enjoy off road. Its narrow and more dirtbike like vs most other adventure bike options.

I think the biggest draw to the T7 is the fact when released it was literally the ONLY japanese middleweight "adventure" bike and people got all giddy, now there are more options and prices have come down for sure.

Pictured is a Honda 599 as a base.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED my 04 Honda 919, put 30k miles on it over the course of 13 yrs of ownership. It was a silent hoon machine with its stock exhaust, power wheelies in 1st n 2nd and was dumb reliable.

the hype definitely makes sense then if it was the first in it's segment. and yamaha so it's not like it was a crappy first iteration, to be outdone by every subsequent manufacturer.
