Is my frame gone?

The Toyota dealership told me I have about a year before my frame snaps on me. What do you guys think? Is this true or are they trying to sell me a car?

 

That’s some pretty bad rust. They probably aren’t too far off.

 

IMO, That does look pretty bad.

 

Unfortunately in the not so distant future you are going to apply the brakes too hard and the frame will stop but the cab will keep going! Honestly though, I would take it to an independent shop that you trust and get a second opinion. They might well tell you the same thing but at least you will know.

My 2005 went from a sliver of rust to a softball sized hole in like 4 months. Right next to the cats is the worst spot.

 

She done for. Not sure if Safe T Caps can save it

 

They rot from the inside out.. it looks like the one of the front crossmembers on the drivers side

gotta be towards the back, that’s an exhaust hanger

 

Theirs two hangers in the front that attach to the y pipe , one on each side

 

Should I sell it or scrap it?

 

You could swap the frame .. buy a southern prerunner and swap you stuff over..

 

Do you think it’s worth calling Toyota? The tech said he’s only seen it once.

 

Depending on how the rest of the truck is it'd make a good parts truck.

More info. needed. Is that the only hole? Someone can fix it no matter what but are you wanting to buy another?

Yeah that’s the only hole. The rest of the truck it in good condition.

 

You can call and cross your fingers but I suspect they will tell you to pound sand
