My passenger side has been making a ton of noise. Crawled underneath and looks like the boot has failed and there’s grease everywhere. Bummer. I’ve only had them about 20k.

I called SPC and the guy said there is a new design that is self-contained with no zerk fitting. He said they no longer make the zerk models. Part 25001.

I went ahead and ordered them from JEGS. Going to replace them both when they get here then have it realigned.

Has anyone else bought the newer style ball joints without the zerk fitting?

I was shipped these when my older ones with the zerk fitting failed after about 10k, maybe less.

I'm curious on this as well. My spc ball joints failed around 30k miles.. they will not warranty them. i bought new ball joints and they do not have a zerk fitting. i'm bummed kuz i spent about $100 on a new grease gun and the specific grease they have listed on their website to stay on top of greasing these more often. i emailed spc and they say that they do not reccommend greasing these new ball joints but if you do to use, "green grease" .

yeah, I bought the recommend spec grease too. Already had the gun. I greased them every 5k or so. Not sure why they failed, but they’re trashed. When i pulled them off and rotated them, they’re really rough.

If this new set does the same, I’ll probably switch to the JBAs and be done with it.

The swap was a piece of cake, but I’m not stoked on parts failing. Hopefully these new ones hold up.

I’m not planning on greasing them, as SPC said there’s no need. We’ll see I guess.

Tons and tons of folks have had early uca failure with SPC...it's a very known issue.

    They aren't exactly oem quality

What other ball joint works with the spc upper control arms that will hold up better? 4000km and mine is shot. Brutal. Highway driving.

None, you have to use their ball joints. It's a proprietary design because they are what adjusts the caster and camber. Only 4000km means you just got a defective set (which unfortunately was happening a lot with SPC). Contact SPC and get a replacement under warranty. They have update the design of the ball joints recently which are supposed to last even longer. You will likely get the new ones for replacement.

Good to know thank you. I guess I should try to get both of them replaced then.
