This could not be further from the truth.

I spoke to a young male active duty USAF Transportation Troop (LRS) this week & he asked, "was there this much hate/anger going on when you were in?"

Of course, he knows I've been retired since 2011 and I said, "that time was so different from today, there's really no fair comparison."

People are quicker to anger/outrage these days for sure.

New trucks and SUVs are unnecessarily complex because of government regulations and because people keep demanding more power for their lifestyle vehicles.

I spend a lot of time overseas, mostly Japan and Southeast Asia, and the car market looks different when people buy based on what they need, not how they wish to express what kind of person they think they are.

I have bought the base model of just about every Toyota BOF SUV and pick up truck over the last 25 years, but it looks like the American car market is steadily pushing away from functional trucks and SUVs.

My FJ80 has zero tech, I find I don’t miss anything when I drive it. It has close to 300,000 miles with only a new radiator.

I would gladly buy an import from overseas to replace it, but first of all I don’t live in America (Cali) and if you’ve actually spent any time in Japan, the JDM import market and overall foreign import market for cars in the US is full of scammers.

Not complaining...agreeing with you, regarding the analysis about "what people complain about."

Our jobs are easy...it's other people who make it challenging.

We really need to surround ourselves with positive people--that's a vague expectation because variables determine what kind of traits are displayed.

    Gotcha.

You started out quoting me with “This could not be further from the truth.”

So we agreed to disagree to agree, or sumthing like that. Lol!

    It's all good.

I'm glad we can both come to some agreement on our comments.

I see you display a "quality trait" in understanding our comments towards one another.

    Thank you!

You’re welcome! Got lost in translation. I am at work and kinda just glancing at this stuff.

Speaking of complaining “people”. Went out to dinner with a good friend of mine last night, he was getting all wound up over world events (won’t go into to detail) was saying it drives him nuts, asked then why worry about stuff you have absolutely no control over??? I mostly ignore it all, have enough things to worry about in my work/personal life. Why even bother with that other stuff??? ;)

Gen X. Mine is a boomer. Hottie. Other than a couple of things, I get freedom like you wouldn't believe..

Full disclosure at least no drama with Toyota getting it reframed in my experience.

Nailed it. Wasn't really that long ago AC wasn't a standard thing in vehicles when you think about it.

I've always been a minimalist with vehicle buying, mostly driven older cars and that's when gadgets start to need repairs so that's something to do with it. I'm happy with my power nothing single cab 2WD truck still after 11 yrs.

I recently rented a 22 Tacoma DCSB for a week while mine was in the body shop. Nice toys but not something I'd buy. Made me really appreciate my truck.

    Jimny Kei version, JDM.

I drove one of these all over Hokkaido.

EPA hates micro trucks for some reason.

I think it's the safety regs, not EPA that hurts that one.

This isn't directed at you specifically, but the way some people talk about the EPA around here, you'd think they still want leaded fuel...
