I had the TRD tune flashed onto my stock ECU by @JustDSM , as I didn’t want to risk the Bullydog tune. I also bought another ECU that he was tuned with HPTuners. I will put the stock ECU back in a month before smog and remove my catch can.

I also have carb legal DT headers and an AFE intake with TRD cover and TRD carb stickers ;)

All this talk of new alternators and I end up spending more money! It’s always a good excuse to take it apart again and install my new SCOL pulleys that I recently bought.
At least now I’ll know some of the more important things are new, and I’ll keep the take-off parts as spares. :)

Yeah so I have a new p0430 code, which is drivers side cat, which I just switched out with my new exhaust last November so that can't be it. I wonder if it's just a 02 sensor or something

Try switching the sensors and see if the issue follows

I've been getting the same code on and off over the last 3 years or so. The cat efficiency is on the very ragged edge of being below and above it's threshold, so I just installed some spacers for the oxygen sensors on both sides to buy me some time. I still get the code here and there but I usually pass the monitor checks to keep the light off for a while before it becomes a thing again. When it does I just quick erase it using my gauges. I got some manifolds ready to toss in, but given how stupid of a job it usually is I'm just biding my time before I need to do both sides.

Hey guys! Maybe I'm just a dumbass? Can anyone tell me if the s/C Serpentine belt just comes out with relief of tensioner pulley? I pulled it off yesterday but it seemed to be stuck behind the tensioner. Idk. Looks like some people pull the rad fan and the tensioner. Do I need to do all that just to replace the belt?! you can get it off with the tensioner on, but i think its easier to just pull the 3 or 4 bolts that hold it to the bracket and it comes off easily

    Oe cats or aftermarket?
My friend had new aftermarket cats put in his truck and they failed in less than a year. I had issues with gesi sport cats on my truck. They were rated for 400hp each.

Same here. If I start getting on the throttle before the cats are fully warm, I mean running at least 10 minutes, it seems to trip the CEL early. I will purposely shift out of OD for my auto. It doesn't seem to trip CEL in 4th or prematurely. Only on the highway at speed around 70mph will I shift to OD. That seems to work for me. Recently started getting crankshaft position sensor being tripped and wondering if that's partly to blame for running rich..

The cats on these trucks are absolute garbage. I can't tell you how many other Toyotas I've seen come in over the years of the same cat on manifold design that has needed the cat replaced as well way before 150K miles, some even less than 130K.

That’s a fun job to do lol. Ac compressor for sure has to come off. I took my alternator off but I don’t think I had to I can’t remember. My sensor was fine but it did have a lot of residue on it.

I’m surprised my truck hasn’t thrown cat codes yet. My truck stinks on cold starts and my friends have told me when driving behind me that they can definitely smell the cats are bad. I have spare stock manifolds. I would like to keep my jba shorties but when the time comes I’ll probably just go back to the stock manifolds and call it a day. Unless I move out of cali then maybe long tubes lol.

Yeah I think because of how random the code is, and only under weird wot conditions it's probably good. The last 2 weeks I've gotten 2-3 less mpg is what peaked my interest.

How often does the fuel filter in the urd fuel pump kit need to be replaced?

How do you get access to the ac compressor? It's on the bottom of the engine right?

Bottom driver side, 4 bolts holding it in. Cps is like right under it or behind it. Also if you ever have to change the main engine tensioner the ac compressor bolts to it as well as a few other things which makes it a fun job.

Anyone running 34/35" tires on stock gears with S/C? I'd prefer not to kill my MPG or drive-ability but seems like the S/C should make up for some of the power issues a stock truck would have being stock ratio with bigger tires?? Will be running 34x10.5 or 35x11.5 so trying to avoid big tires as most driving is on pavement anyway but mileage is low.

Also if anyone has a good thread to read on the subject I got lost in the results.

Just spacers. I have seen the mini cats and those are pretty sweet. I don't remember why I didn't do those way back when. Something drove me away from doing them.
