400 miles on my new truck and used the trailer mode and towed a small trailer, unhooked trailer and can't get the Driving assist to turn back on. The trailer mode shuts off the emergency collision braking in the rear and rear parking assist and also leaves a warning light on in the right lower corner on and you get a notification in the middle of the instrument cluster every time you start engine. Factory engineer did not know why told me to just drive and see if it goes out.
I have put 80 miles on and started and stopped engine 20 times at least, light and mode still on. Problem does have a ticket open with toyota now and maybe i will get fixed soon.

I wouldn’t say there’s anything bleeding edge about a truck detecting when a trailer is hooked up. That’s been standard on most trucks for over a decade.

Somewhat off topic, but what does the manual say about towing the first 500 (or 1000?) miles. Pretty sure 3rd gen said not to do it.

    From my ‘23 manual fwiw

‘If your vehicle is new or equipped with any new power train components (such as an engine, transmission, differential or wheel bearing), Toyota recommends that you do not tow a trailer until the vehicle has been driven for over 500 miles (800 km).

After the vehicle has been driven for over 500 miles (800 km), you can start towing. However, for the next 500 miles (800 km), drive the vehicle at a speed of less than 50 mph (80 km/h) when towing a trailer, and avoid full throttle acceleration.’

Maybe so, but all the stuff disabled is somewhat fresh.

Regardless, integrated can be good. Or not. Just depends.

My thoughts exactly. Often there’s a big divide between what tech promises and what it actually delivers.

It is a unique intersection that most vehicles don't have to deal with. Not a fan of the Tacoma's solution of automatic detection or it being buried in the dash controls, I think there are too many variables (bikes over the tailgate, tailgate being open, etc) that make it an inconvenience. They should have just left the manual switch like the Tundra.

Does your manual have any answers? Troubleshooting maybe?

Nothing worth anything in the manual. No troubleshooting.
I too wish they put a manual switch instead of having to dig through the instrument cluster cluster.
I only towed a little light weight flat bed with no real weight on it about 10 miles.

Just tried to re-hook up to my trailer and turn on the trailer mode, towed the trailer around about 10 right and left turns then backed it into a spot and the backup camera and proximity sensors were all working and talking to my like my truck was the back of the trailer, worked great but the light is still on and Im still getting message that its still in trailer mode even though I disconnected trailer and told it the trailer is disconnected. Oh well guess I still have to wait on Toyota tech boys to figure it out.

Yea cause towing a small trailer is so difficult, really. Only been towing for 50 years.
Crispy, my son has a 24 Tundra and has no problems yet. And he towed the same trailer.

Just to reply to some references to the manual about not towing for 1st 500 miles.
Trailer is less than 1000 lbs and has only been driven on local low speed roads so I would hope that's not an indication that the new Taco is a delicate little flower now.

Thanks. I did a search and didn’t see anything Tundra related either. I hope they fix it fast for you.

I had the same issue after coming back from a camping trip with a small tear drop trailer.
It has to do with the message that pops up asking if trailer is connected or not. I kept hitting yes or maybe no. Try selecting the opposite of what you have been doing and see if that helps.

I had that orange symbol stuck on the instrument cluster and some safety features were disabled.
