I test drove both the tacoma and frontier and for my needs I have to say the tacoma wins hands down, although more pricey if you can find the right deal its definitely the one to choose. I used to have to drive my dads f150 around and that was a real pain.

I also understand what ya mean, this is my first small truck also. It does take some getting used too.
It is a toy compared to the big trucks.

I realize we're veering off topic here, and it's probably my fault.

However, the pricing on these trucks has been drastically reduced over the past 6 months due to the spike in fuel prices and the economy in general. Around here you can have a brand new Ram 2500 ST 4x4 Crew with a 6.7 for around $33K, they are probably even cheaper south of the border.

Before the Taco I had a Ram 1500 Reg Cab, long box with a 3.9L V6 and a 5 speed - still fun to drive since it was a stick, yet extremely comfortable.

The other thing I find with the seats being higher, my ass doesn't hurt nearly as much from sitting on long drives as it does with cars. (Haven't had too much of a problem with the Taco, but it's still evident if I drive more than 5 hours straight.

Well 266ft/lbs of torque on gas versus 650ft/lbs of torque with a diesel. Yeah, I'm not surprised.

Why would someone who bought a Nissan prefer a Toyota and vice versa. Come on folks, stay focused here please.

With the way Dodge is going, you might not be able to get parts for your new truck in the future. I wouldn't touch any of the new diesels with a DPF.

I'm an active member on a Frontier board and they all say the same thing about the Tacoma. Nice truck, but way overpriced. Sometimes they bring up the notorious frame issue. Other than that its a fairly tame rivalry.

I don't think Chrysler will simply drop off the map, someone will buy them out as a whole, or partially.

Cummins has put themself in a relatively bulletproof position now that CAT has discontinued production of on-highway diesels, and its not the Diesel Particulate Filters I'm worried about, its those stupid Urea Tanks for the 2010 emission regs.

I work for Cummins in Columbus where the headquarters are, and I can tell you that the company is well prepared for tough times. Low debt, large assets, and a huge revolving credit line.(from e-mails I receive from top execs)

Many joint ventures around the world with great diversity has led to a company ready as any to withstand this sour economy........I hope...:D

The LDD is the next big thing for Cummins.(Light Duty Diesel). It has been postponed till 2010 I believe.

Yeah all that emissions stuff is scary. Especially in a big rig. More maintenance=less money in truckers pockets. Cummins makes great engines, but give me a C15 any day over a Cummins!

Of course this is all subjective. I'm 6' 225lbs post lower back surgery and the seating position is absolutely fine for me. I drove 9.5 hours straight to NJ in June and had not one problem. Obviously it doesn't work for you though so maybe it's time to get something else. There are great deals out there on full size trucks now.

I'm 6'1" and the seat is is super comfy for me, never even crossed my mind that it's anything but perfect. Mines an automatic... they could have put the brake pedal about 2" to the left but I've already gotten use to it. I didn't even consider a Nissan, I found the front just too ugly to inquire any furthur. Plus, I've known alot of people over the years that had nothing but good things to say about their Tacomas... never met a Frontier owner. I drive Fords at work, I got a Tacoma because I wanted to come home to a nice truck.
