Put the TLR-6 on. Love the look and feel of it. Bought a little cleaning kit from my local gun shop/trading post. And I'm pretty disappointed in it. The cloths and the barrel squeegee thing leave behind a ton of lint. I'll be looking for a different setup soon.PXL_20240421_191454033.MP.jpg

I think this might be a good spot to post this question.

    Who's run 300 ACC BLK?

What's a good buffer / bcg combo for unsuppressed, 8.5 inch... Sub and Super (I know suppressed is better. But it's got to be unsurpressed because my kid lives in a Communist state that frowns upon being courteous to other people's hearing)

I'm thinking a lightweight BCG (9.2 oz) and an Odinworks adjustable (2.1-4.2 oz) buffer (probably at 2.1 but it gives him some adjustability to dial it in).

He's running a full auto with H1 buffer now and says it doesn't cycle for shit... Sub or Super

I switched to a primary arms yellow light power buffer spring and a 2.7 oz buffer and PSA opened up the gas hole in the barrel and it solved my problems. I still use a OEM BCG

Thanks for the input. I wasn't even thinking about a lighter spring.

Opening up the gas port would be last resort.

The yellow spring helped mine but it was still under gassed. With the 7” barrel so PSA opened the gas port under warranty for me

Right on! I'm pretty sure his is a Ballistic Advantage barrel. At least that's what I told him to buy. Not sure if they would do that. They are pretty good and affiliated with Aero Precision (which is why I recommended them). I've had a couple cases where Aero has been quite good to deal with.

I bought a bench to start reloading. Over the last few weeks, I've picked up a press, powder thrower, tumbler, and various gauges. Looking forward to getting started!

    Nice.

At least that gives me hope he can get it running right.

    So far he ordered these.

    The Lite version

    https://www.opticsplanet.com/odin-works-ar-15-adjustable-buffer.html

    We'll see how that works.

I also told him about this one. I think he said he's ordering it too.

I think, between all those, he should be able to get it running right.

Where does the brass eject? Does it hold open on empty mag? Sure it's not overpassed?

Definitely not over gassed. Over gassed is really not a problem with 300 BLK, especially at pistol length, 8.5 inch barrel, and no can.

He was saying it wont eject right, sounds like the case is kind of stove piping. When it does eject, it's not picking up the next round. That sounds, to me, like it's short stroking, which is under gassed.

I know 300 BLK can be a bit finicky, main reason I was asking is I was hoping to help him get it fixed without 40 trips to the range and having to buy a bunch of (what ends up as) a box of spare parts (different sized buffers, springs, etc, etc).

Lots of 300blk are overgassed. Many MFGs got tired of getting returns so they just made them with big gas ports (specially short barrels) to cycle everything (poorly). If the carrier is going too fast it can outrun the mag. It will look just like short stroking

If you knew where the brass was ejecting, it would definitely save trips to the range. Holding open on an empty mag would quickly confirm if it's undergassed.

If it's brand new, and not broken in, friction can also play a part. If you change a bunch of stuff before it's broken in, you may be chasing your tail.
