I built this a few years ago as a "bucket list" bike. I did/added everything I wanted, rode it a couple times, went to a few shows, and called it good. I finally drained the gas and parked it in the man cave where it will just be something to look at now.

Posting here as a farewell to hopefully get some closure lol anyone interested in some really sweet CR Special carbs?

Am I being impatient when I emailed on the bike Thursday morning and haven't heard back?
Really been digging around on the bikes available out there, and after having our local ST expert put worries to bed, I really just want to buy the bike I found. Just need the seller to respond.

    (Purists look away)

She started out as a complete but crusty 79 CB750. I chopped the frame up, added the mono shock and swingarm from a CBR600F, and front end from a GSXR1000. Electronic ignition, CR carbs, velocity stacks, etc. By far the most uncomfortable, impractical, and dangerous bike I've ever built lol

I don't regret it, but definitely wish I still had the original bike too somehow

    Thanks man!!
Oil will be here tomorrow and I have 4 oil filters left over from the R3 that actually fit the FZ1. Will do a brake flush, check the radiator fluid, clean and lube the chain (adjusted it yesterday before my ride) and give it a bath. Alan (guy who I bought it back from) alway had non ethanol fuel in it with stabil so that’s good to go.

Sweet FZ1 congrats getting it back! That bike was on my short list too before I got the FZ-09.

Some things you can’t unsee, I really like what you did but that bike looked pretty sweet and original. In the end it’s up to us with what we want and makes us happy.

At the time the DOHC were still the forgotton cousin and were selling for peanuts around here. It hurt me but I had an itch that I just had to scratch. It may have something to do with keeping all my bikes OEM+ since then.

So, being impatient I sent another email through Cycletrader, but I just used their suggested generic "Is it available message" and low and behold I got an email from Cycletrader that the message was sent. Never got that with the ones that had my questions, so I am wondering if Cycletrader filters out any that are longer. Bastards. LOL

Its possible it got filtered out if it was way too long, but a few simple questions were never an issue for me.

Usually I just keep the initial email short and sweet but personalized so they know someone put in some effort, get a response, then start fielding the questions once I've made contact with a real person.

Lol all i can say is, manage your expectations. I haven't bought new since my WRX in 2015. The used marketplace is a whole different beast

If it's something I'm really interested in I send a brief note and ask for a phone number to discuss. I hate typing, and also talking with someone gives you a better idea of who the seller is. If it's a dealer I just call them and don't bother with email.
