How often do you haul things over 5 ft, or 6 ft or 7 ft?

Nearly every morning. Those things (surfboards) hang over the tailgate very easily

Im guessing you live in the rust belt? That 300 straight six was almost unkillable, and there’s not much else to go wrong on that truck.

I've not considered a vehicle over $40K and Leasing was never something I would do.

The most expensive vehicle our family bought was the Silver 2003 Honda Pilot EX/DVD/Leather at $32K in Hawaii/2002. (Hickam AFB)

That vehicle had the same size engine and had variable all-wheel drive.

Gas was never a burdensome issue...it had a 19 gallon tank and got about 19MPG+.

The 2021 TRD Sport I have now has a 22 gallon tank and gets about the same MPGs.

I utilize the 5ft bed--it's worked for me thus far. :)

Jeep has been slashing prices on new Gladiators by 20 grand in some cases. They’re just piling up on the lots, especially with these higher interest rates.

My pops bought a used frontier Hardbody back in 1997 for 3500. He was making 35-40k I believe at the time. Surely, other vehicles would have been more efficient. However, I think the added utility of truck bed more than makes up for that.

Also, My 2G Tacoma was only 12k when I bought it. I preferred a standard cab, two seater truck with a Manual Transmission. I camped a lot, and I always seemed to use the bed for something. the 4 cycl wasn’t too bad on gas. I didn’t even have electric roll up windows. It was exactly what I wanted though, and I felt it was affordable to me.

point is. Even without towing, mid size trucks had a purpose and while they were less efficient than small sedans, the added utility was worth it.

I dont see the point owning one now. They are more expensive than Model Ys now?

I think the overlanding poser scene ruined the economics of mid size trucks. They are 4x4s secondarily. I already see less and less overlanders driving around. I think the scene is going to collapse

I didn't miss your point. There was no point. You made a false assumption, then revealed the stunted constraints of your logic.

Dublin: Cost of living: 103.1% higher than the national average.

    Try Fresno or somewhere else.

My wife is thinking about buying her GX out of state and we’re going to get cheap tickets to fly out to Texas or Colorado and just drive it home.
