Any difference between kickdown cables from the A340F vs A340E?

    I have a 99 tacoma with a 3RZ automatic that I will be converting to 4x4.
I have a 4x4 transmission that came out of 99 V6 that I will be using but the kickdown cable is not good. Can I just swap the one from the 3RZ 2wd transmission and slap it on the 4x4 transmission?

Its not a kick down cable, its a line pressure cable, but yes swap it out no biggie.

Unless you are only using the V6 transmission for the cable, you may want to check the compatibility of a V6 AT with a 3rz engine. The transfer case also needs to match the transmission. 3rz tc’s have different spline counts than the V6. @Area51Runner may have more definitive info on this.

All you have to do is look up the part# for each vehicle/trans type and verify they are the same OR (as a sanity check) you can call your local dealership parts counter and ask them for the part# for both vehicles.

The 99 3RZ A340E does share the same part# as the 99 A340F. 35520-35230 is the part number. You should be able to swap it but make sure the plastic base where it bolts to the transmission housing is not cracked. If it is, it can be a potential source of a leak or worse, compromise the cable. Make sure it's good. That plastic can become weak/brittle over time.

This is the area where the plastic can crack/break.

@Area51Runner What about the question OP didn’t ask, whether his V6 AT from the 99 donor vehicle will work with his 3rz engine for his 4x4 swap project?

100% spot on @CA-Taco . Middle of the night reply and yep, failed to connect the dots.
Bellhousing is different. Starter is on the opposite side (reference this thread - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/4x4-conversion-2-7-doublecab.784492/). @Toyoda213, search the conversion threads here in 1st gen, there are more on the differences with the 2.7 3.4 swap. @gearcruncher has the mad doc resource in his thread he linked.

Thanks for this link. To be honest I havent really read into swapping a 3RZ to 4x4. Ive done the 4x4 conversion on my previous V6 which everything went perfect.
I have this V6 4x4 transmission, V6 Tcase, front diff, knuckles etc from the previous swap as spares and now I got a hold of a 99 tacoma with a 3RZ as a gift that I was hoping I can use these extra 4x4 parts I have laying around. So I was starting to look into this swap to see if I was going to run into any issues which seems like thats the case.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Definitely give that thread a read. He had a 6cyl A340F and TC. I THINK he ended up swapping the bell housing from his A340E and using a 4cyl TC. At least that is what I remember. Take a look to be sure. It shouldn't be that bad. www.car-part.com is your friend also.
