I’m sorry for your loss. It is a difficult thing to do.

 

So sorry for your loss. We just had to say goodbye to ours 2 months ago. It just sucks. Prayers to you.

 

There is no more beautiful, or noble, creature in God's creation than a family's dog.

Jasper, you will always be my best boy. You will will always be loved, and you will never be forgotten.



Be at peace now.

 

15 years is a long life for a Siberian Husky. He was a good boy all the way.

He slowed down the last few years, but he was always his big, goofy, self. He got up this morning like normal when my wife and I went to work. My son says he went back in our room and got in his bed this afternoon. (The other dogs were acting like something was up). He checked on him and Jasper gave him a couple licks on the hand. When my son went back in to check on him again, he was gone. Just went to sleep.

He passed within a foot of where his "brother" and "sister" passed basically the same way.

I wish mine could have passed like that. I had to have them euthanized so they wouldn’t have to suffer. I always hoped they would pass in their sleep.

 

Me, too.

 

We have been very fortunate in that.

Jasper, in particular, I have no idea what I would have done if I had had to take him in and put him down. That would have broke me.

I just wish I would have had some sort of idea this morning. I would have given Jasper a lot more love... but then again, I probably wouldn't have gone to work either.

 

When Cloe passed it was almost a magical thing. She passed a couple years after Riley.

She was laying in her bed, she was really at the end. Almost unresponsive. We were all with her.

Riley used to always jump up on our bed and get up on our pillows then look down on the other dogs laying in their beds on the floor.

Cloe looked up kind of suddenly and her head turned as if she was watching Riley walk over to the bed. Then she looked up at the head of our bed (nothing was there) and looked as if she saw something. (Riley jumping up on the bed) Then she laid her head back down and she was gone.

I swear on everything I believe, Riley came back to get her. And I'd like to believe the same thing happened today with Jasper. He went back to bed so he could be picked up by his brother and sister.

 

Sorry for your and the family's loss, @El Taco Diablo. I'm glad that I was able to give Jasper (along with the other dogs) some pets the last time I was over at your place.

No animal is unique. They all create a bond to those who show them respect. Dogs give that respect unconditionally. We all know they are short lived compared to us. To those who think that just thinks that their pet would think that your love would stop with them is misguided. In my 65 years I have had dozens who all have sleep on my bed. It blows my mind that folks tell me it's too soon or I'm too old to get a new best friend. Get your self out there and fill that void as soon as possible. Me, I don't let my youngest one past 5 before a new one comes in. Training is much easier. "Grief is the price of Love"
