yeah that’s what i did but …then you can’t re gear past 4:10 if you want to drive over 75 ish because the shaft will be too long and will turn into a jump rope

so then back to a 2 piece for 4:56 or 4:88’s

Then just LS swap so you don’t need to regear. I hear it’s super easy.

What do you mean bro, junkyard LS, like $300. Definitely no other costs.

Sell Tacoma and buy a 2009 Silverado and it’ll probably be about that much.

Stock gears, more torque from the engine so it doesn’t feel as slow, don’t feel the need to regear. Not yet at least.

and yeah, my truck is very cranky.

I spent 5 months chasing driveline vibes I thought were coming from the driveshaft, ended up being a pinion gear that was eating itself.

Floating carrier bearing can help hide other issues.

Assuming the mitchmade bearing is all installed correctly, take your driveshaft to a shop to get rebalanced.

Worst case, they’ll tell you everything is fine and you’re out $60. Better, they’ll rebalance it and/or replace ujoints/etc.

edit: I also DD my truck.

I’ll try and grab an angle finder app and let you know tomorrow. Pinion was set at JD fab, figure that’s a hard one to mess up.

New ring and pinion just got put in it. So shouldn’t be that. Truck is under break in. At this point, I have multiple shops I will no longer support because of shitty work they did on my truck that’s now costing me thousands. Unfortunately this economy sucks to own property so I don’t have a space to do my own work. CA is a joke.

yeah i had to take mine out since my swap put my output in a different spot so the angle didn't line up anymore and put the bearing under bind. gotta remake my carrier bearing mount before i can put it back in.

Just sayin, I made a pass on the race car this weekend in the truck. It’s got a built ls3 and me with the 4.0. Surprise might have played into my favor

Yeah I thought this would have been the way to go for strength and the reports I’ve heard were that it was smooth. But maybe I’ll have to swap back depending on how the rebalance goes. They want $125 plus hours to rebalance it at the shop I was having the gears put in at. We’ll see. Bearing wasn’t cheap at $350

For shits grab some long bolts and a stack of washers and shim the carrier down. try an inch drop first and see if it feels better.

Yeah already dropped it down .5 inch. Little better but still not what I consider healthy for electronic components. Something is up with the driveshaft
