I cringe every time I encounter a slow-down and see a clueless driver speeding up behind me. Not much you can do except slowing well before the restriction. Out of luck if you're stopped.

Sorry this happened to you and hope you get a good resolution.

Every time I ride Uber, I take note of other vehicles and at least 3 out of every 5 drivers are looking at something other than the road ahead. Honestly I am surprised there aren’t more accidents.

In the truck? I think that's either the first aid kit I keep velcroed to the back of the headrest, or a Costco-sized bag of chips that landed on top of my backpack. I haven't seen an Alf, Garfield, or Odie in what seems like 2 decades, now. I kinda liked those when I was a kid.

Sorry that happened to you and your truck hopefully you are not injured and the truck is repaired without too much trouble.

I know what you mean I see that too when I'm riding with someone and also when I'm driving too. seems like at a red light 70% of people are on their phones, then they often need audible encouragement to go when the light changes. What are they doing? looking at social media?

I been rear ended in my old jeep a few time in the past by phone users myself. I myself had an incident about 10 years ago where I was trying to look at a text and didn't see traffic stopped in time. luckily that accident was very minor. It did make me realize I needed to change my behaviors. I stopped looking at my phone unless it was on a mount to use maps, I added bluetooth hands free calling. Now with the Tacoma that has Android Auto I put my phone in the center console and only interact with it via the truck's screen and voice command, helps keep eyes on the road more.

In the house - could be Alf. Or Miss Piggy, with her hand over her mouth.

    IMG_2498.jpg

In the truck - you can’t fool us - that’s Humpty Dumpty. He knows the Taco will disintegrate all around you in a wreck and protect your shell.

When I pulled into the exit lane, everyone was doing about 60. I assume she hit the brakes and with abs, probably about 40-50?

There are times, and they're becoming more frequent, that I wish I still had my '78 LeSabre. That thing was indestructible. That Mark is too nice...

I'd have walked away from this accident in my '78 with a scuffed bumper molding. My Buick had a peeling landau roof, peeling paint, and a couple of minor dents. It *looked* mean. Not Chiefs team bus mean, but mean enough...

Same here! First, totalling my first car back in '01 (holy crap...that makes me sound old) made me drive differently because the loss of my baby made me realise that it's doesn't matter if I'm late, if it's a super emergency,or I was trying to get some action, or whatever. I never, ever, ever rush anywhere anymore. Everyone tells me that I drive like a grandma, but I appreciate my vehicles, and the time, effort and money they cost. I'd rather leave early, enjoy the shit out of the drive (maybe take the scenic route through any woods) and always get there early or on time. That's just the way it is for me.

As for texting, I was at an intersection about to turn right, inching forward while texting when the car in front of me decided to stop when I had my eyes on the phone, and I love tappped their car. We were iiiinching. I had to be doing about 2mph. It felt like when your tires hit the concrete bar in parking spots when you park, and there was no damage, or even marks on either vehicle, but the lady I hit (in a bigger car) claimed her neck hit her chest and a letter from my insurance company informed me that she had sued for injuries, but there were no damage claims on her vehicle. I didn't hear anything about it after that, and I have not picked up my phone while I'm driving (unless I'm out on the trails) since 2007.

You're in a Tacoma. Enjoy the drive.

Yikes. That's only a little bit worse looking than mine which is at the body shop right now. The appraiser said it needed just the bumper replaced but I haven't heard from The body shop yet. They were supposed to do the tear down today or tomorrow and then let me know if a supplement was needed.

Very shitty thing that happened to you, definitely get checked out by a doctor as a precaution.
Her car looks great though, i'm happy she got what she deserved. Hopefully she will be forced to take public transportation from here on out.
