why no can on a 300blk? I assume he's waiting on one. You don't just run 300 without a can lol
well, some might, but I wouldn't.

    Answered in original question.

Some Communist States don't give a shit about hearing protection

300 blk in an AR pistol (8.5 inch barrel) would be loud, but with (slow) subs it would still be good home defense, etc. The premise is he won't live in said Communist utopia forever and when he makes it to a free American State he can start the process for a can... and SBR.

My 300BLK has really grown on me in the last 6 months, but honestly I wouldn’t have much use for it if it wasn’t a SBR and suppressed.

As far as home defense, I’m using 135gr Hornady FTX at 2000fps. Subs have another use.

Heavy 300blackout subsonic is horrible for home defense. They will travel through any perp and/or your walls (plural) like a hot knife through butter. Hopefully you don't have close neighbors......

Lmfao... I think you may want to recheck that bub.

Sub 300 blackout isn't that far off from 45 ACP

Bub, did you fail shape class in kindergarten?

Ftlbs of energy and penetration aren't the same thing either. It's the FisikS

Bought 4 boxes of garbage 12 gauge 2 3/4 Bioammo then went out and did 3 rounds of trap shooting, I got voluntold to be a member of my company departments team for a trap shoot we have this weekend.
Literally havent shot trap since I was maybe 15. It was fun, really got more in a groove the last round. Im sure ill suck compared to all the old gritty "Annie Oakleys" at this shoot but who cares.
The bioammo shells were giving me issues with ejection I think they use some cheap brass that strips on the ejector.
I also need to clean my gun out well tonight I think that was one of the issues with failure to eject.
    FUN STUFF

You should try 110 gr vmax the literally explode inside of things and remove extremities. I predator hunt with them and also deer hunt with them and thers never a exit but alot of interal damage like comparable to a 300wm

Subs in the BLK are more for an offensive use than defensive. There are pros and cons to both, but when it comes to defensive use, I want terminal performance over other tactical advantages. I also don't see the point of subs without a suppressor. If you are going loud, go loud.

That said, any gun is better than no gun. Train with what you have and be proficient with it.

A subsonic blackout round at CQB range will have plenty of energy to subdue a threat.

A 220 grain 300 blk has over 100 ft lbs more energy at the muzzle than a 230 grain 45 acp. When talking about home defense ranges, you're not much further out than talking about muzzle energy, let's be perfectly honest. I don't think anyone is going to question the knock down power of a "2 time World War champion" (a joke for the boomers).

In a home defense situation, subsonic also isn't just about quieter. It also carries less muzzle flash, and it also has a lighter recoil. Maybe not a lot, but it IS quieter, less flash, less recoil. All of these things are beneficial.

As for the over penetration. MUCH of the information people banter on about is from old forum posts and other useless sources of information.

    The shape myth:
Some dumb hillbilly stacks a bunch of 2x4s together and shoots it with a (ball) 45ACP then shoots it with a (ball) sub 300 BLK. The 300 BLK penetrates farther than the 45. The dumb hillbilly shouts to his buddy (something like) "See there Cletus, now that thar is because of the shape, it's them FisiKs I recon." "That Thar bullit will travel through any perp and/or your walls (plural) like a hot knife through butter."

The problem is... A stack of 2x4s has nothing what so ever to do with a bunch of walls in a house. The (pointed) shape will stabilize the bullet as it passes through what is effectively a sold chunk of wood. However, this is not what happens with hollow walls etc. The bullet will begin to tumble, when it makes an impact. The weight of the bullet can exaggerate the tumbling effect, in turn decreasing the velocity and over penetration. (compared to a stack of 2x4s)

    The no expanding/frangible round myth:
Another argument based on old, outdated, information is... You can't get expanding/frangible ammo in 300 BLK subsonic. This was, effectively, true in 2015 (there were some offered but they weren't widely regarded as accurate, reliable, etc). It's not true today. Horandy makes a line, Gorrilla ammunition makes a GREAT round that is effective, reliable and gets MASSIVE expansion.
    https://www.gorillaammo.com/product...g-subsonic-ammunition-lead-free-20-round-box/

Using an expanding/frangible round in the dumb hillbilly's test (above) would also dramatically change the outcomes.

A heavier, slower projectile will give you
    Less recoil
    Less muzzle flash
    Less sound
    and yes... less over penetration

    It's Physics... (spelled correctly)

Use what you want to use, and use it well. I base my opinion on my own use, as well as the over 1000 gunshot wounds I've helped treat from people who walked away from the fight. I'll take supers for defensive work and subs for work we don't talk about.

My reply wasn't necessarily aimed at you brotha. I can absolutely respect that.

I used to buy reloading dies for cartridges I didn’t own. Of course then I had no choice but to buy two guns in that cartridge to justify the dies.

I do it a lot for magazines. See them on sale for good deals and just pick them up. Either 1) I buy the gun, 2) Pass them on at the good price 3) trade them or 4) Sell them when I realize i dont want that gun lol
