    ^^ What they said.
not sure on the newer dinosaur, but the older DRZ (my 07) had a small reservoir that you could not fill unless you tried with a syringe. pic of what it looks like, and it's buried in the left rear of the frame. The damn thing is probably the size of a pack of cigarettes.

just a couple of things tbh
No it's a tiiiiny little thing I went and checked the bike and it was just a splash low so let it idle and added some more which ended up getting the overflow some. But I found a new issue! So thanks I guess... I noticed a good amount of oil around my petcock which I thought was odd until I remembered it's a vacuum petcock.. so the damn seals are leaking and letting some gas into the oil and thinning the oil out so it makes it leak a tiny bit at the petcock.. so hurrray time to rebuild that! Even thou I just bought the damn thing a couple years ago...

Yup that's the one! And mine is cracked pretty good... I fixed it with some plastic weld in Colorado when it broke and it keeps it in but it could be leaking

Rite rite. those things are paper thin. Mine looked like it was cracked.. Touched it and my finger.. went right through it. Bought a replacement and got her straight.

Edit. The reservoir on the KLX300 actually has a fill cap.

I got to tooling around on google maps last night. Found an off road motorcycle park about 40-45 minutes from the house. Took a drive out there to talk and check it out. I got to see a couple riders on the MX track (mild MX track).

The place has training areas and available classes for the new comers as well. Even has some single track in the woods. Thinking about joining the place as it’s open 24/7 and dang near all year (Nov. 24, thru Dec. 31 is Sundays only).

This would be cool and close for somewhere to play. Hell, supposedly you can camp too. just no electric or water hook ups.

I believe you can rebuild those pretty easy but just get rid of the vacuum petcock and go to the manual drz400e petcock. Much mo betta

A way off this topic of hand grips, But........

When on an extended ride on the VFR (or any bike for that matter ) My hands go numb in the first 1/2 hour or so.

Then, Pushing through, all goes normal again after an hour or so.

What I don't get is , I didn't do anything different regarding posture or grip to make a change.
I'm getting on in years, (72) been riding since I was 12, Done some long days , weeks , and months on two wheels.

But this numb and tingly thing has me worried in the event of a needed front brake modulation.

Any ideas? (If it didn't self correct, I think I could figure it out on my own)

Riding season has started! (Though it's getting down below freezing here tonight.)

Hah, I'm glad you think you made me leave the scary Internets! Truth is, I don't really care what you guys think of me or where I live, I just was getting bored of the same old "hazing" over and over. I'm here to BS about motorcycles, not get into politics or a pissing match about what state is the best.

Truth is, I did log off that day, and then all of a sudden, life happened. My new job ramped up way too quickly, and that was the bulk of my TW posting time (both of my team members left/are leaving and I got a lot more work) and my wife and I decided to sell the house because fuck a 45 mile commute each way, so I've been slammed with packing and moving and fixing up the house. In what little free time I do have I've just been riding anyways.

Sheesh, what does it say about you that you think that since one person stopped posting on a Tacoma forum, all people from California are bad? You sound insecure that you don't live here. :luvya:

Did you change gloves recently? I bought a pair of short cuff gloves a few years back that when velcro'd a little bit too tight the reinforced cuff edge would dig in just enough at the angle my hand rested on the throttle while cruising to pinch off blood flow a bit.

Anyways, as for actual motorcycle updates:

RC390 and Grom haven't even been turned on this year and they're currently in a storage unit.

Daytona was sold so I don't have to move it and the bazillion parts it came with to the new place.

Super Tenere has 9000 more miles on it (bought with ~14k, at ~23k now) in less than 5 months of ownership and is by far my most favorite motorcycle I've ever owned. I actually just got back from a week long trip on it, where I rode from Bay Area to Denver to go hang out with friends.

    438198236_10161299781469035_462871996690_0c7e8f8e8041fe67ab8a63ad7fd34234d7800a5a.jpg

I did an IronButt ride on the way there and did the Bun Burner Gold ride (1500+ miles in under 24 hours). I did 1,508 miles in 23h 11m, spent 3 days freezing in Denver with some snow and ice, then rode back and did another Saddlesore 1000 ride on the way home (1,280 miles in 20 hours). I'm still trying to recover from it but the bike absolutely ate up the miles.

    upload_2024-4-25_19-43-9.png
So... 8.5k on the rear tire of my S10 now, going to try and squeeze another 1.5k out of it (confident that I can). Front still looks new and I'm pretty sure I can get 20k out of it too. :bikewheelie:

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've worn these same gloves for several years, and ones just like for years before. (I have questioned my cold riding gloves, But found the issue remains across both summer and "taint" season gloves.)

And if gloves, why the relief AFTER an hour? That is what gets me puzzled.

Are the VFR grips thinner than your other bikes? The KTM's grips are thinner than the Super Tenere's and no matter how I grip the bars my hands (especially throttle) starts cramping or goes numb fairly quickly.

I must just like a meaty grip in my hands.

There some very nice spots to stop and enjoy after Las Vegas and points east.
There is more to two wheels than droning////

Hats off though. I did a Miami to Helena MT and return once. All in three weeks.
IRON butt I would wish. Hemorrhoids ever since... ;-)

VFR grips are thin, I've run the bulky grips, and then return to "less is more".

(eta The VFR is the least "buzzy" motorbike I have ever ridden. It rivals a Vespa P200e) Smooth as glass through the bars at cruising revs.)

also, I roll up some plexi-glass throttle pads that take the "grip" out of holding the right hand. the effort falls to the palm. Best thing since sliced bread.

    something like this.

    https://www.amazon.com/Oxford-Cruis...5451718&mcid=9aad06c1715030f68cd09c34a0b3d7ef

Again, if it were the grips, why does the numbness and tingles "heal thyself"?
And what about the left hand? It goes sour also.

I always get the "riding in a straight line is boring" comments, to which I don't disagree but high mileage is the point of Iron Butt rides and I enjoy the mental aspect of being able to ride for so long. It's not for everyone, and I spend a lot of time in the twisties anyways (usually every weekend when the weather is nice). Plus, the point of the trip was to get to Denver to do other stuff, so I wanted the ride to be as short as possible.

I get salty because it's a topic beaten to death and I come here to talk motorcycles, not get in a pissing match about what state is the best to live in. If your idea of "hazing" is repeating the same shit over and over, then yeah I'm going to take a break once in a while and actually spend my time doing something I enjoy.

Also, I've come to the conclusion that corporate america is shit and I just put in my 8 hours and dip. Companies will use any excuse they can to not promote you anyways so what's the point. I'd rather spend more time riding.
