At 22k when I checked mine all of my valves on my super ten were perfect in spec. I might check again a little sooner than the 24k interval as I ride the super ten hard... it sees rev limiter lots.

Thank you, and that's great your enjoying the bike and racking up those miles!

Good to know, I didn't realize Seth is moving. My build date was 4/16 and he said it's normally 7-10 days from then he calls to finalize the details. If I don't hear back soon I'll check in but the move is probably effecting things. I'm not too concerned though, I actually bought the KTM Ergo seat as well to avoid any downtime and it's a nice improvement over stock. Hopefully the Laam seat will be here in time to try it out we'll see.

Also are you (or other Cali peeps @nd4spdbh , @TacoTyusday , Et al) near Oakhurst? I'll be there in early November for a wedding and curious if anyone's near that area.

How did they do it? Last time I pulled the cams out completely and zip tied the timing chain to the frame, but this time I will probably just zip tie the cam gears to the chain and tilt the cams out of the way (if I need to adjust anything).

Awesome! Did you replace the valve cover gasket while you were there?

280ish miles away from me to bass lake / oakhurst area unfortunately.

Naw just re-used it. I did clean up any gunk and old RTV and put a couple dabs of RTV in the corners where sealing could be an issue and no issues what so ever with weeping.

Before making any adjustment or taking slack out of the cam chain adjuster they lined up the timing marks. Zip tie trough the cam chain as close as possible to the engine sprocket. Zip tie each cam gear to the cam chain at 2 points so nothing can move then release the chain tensioner. AT that point it makes it really tough to screw it up as each area is tied off separately. We pulled the cam retainers off the exhaust cam first and there is enough slack to gently roll it into the center, pulled all the buckets and shims with a magnet and laid them out in order. they have an Excel spreadsheet with formulas so as we entered what shim was on each valve it told us what shim was needed to achieve 70% max clearance. We moved some shims from valve to valve then swapped out what was needed with my shim kit or some form the kit Ray had brought along. Once the exhaust was set we reinstalled that cam and caps, torqued them then repeat with the intake. Reinstalled intake once complete and eyeball all of your marks. Return the cam tensioner to it's proper tension then cut the zip ties and rotate the engine 2 full revolutions by hand then recheck all clearances to verify. All 16 were dead on with what the spreadsheet called out. I was shocked by how easy it turned out to be.

Cam cover gaskets are meant to be reusable. I just pulled mine out and cleaned the groove in the cover, wiped off the gasket, then using some RTV put a fresh bead in the cover then reinstalled the gasket and let it dry while we were doing the adjustments. On the FJR you need to disconnect the throttle cables at the grip and loosen them at the throttle bodies so you can rotate them out of the way to r&r the cam cover.

So, the guy with the Super T I want had a title snafu, so his sale might not go through. I offered him $500 over asking to try and get it once he has the title in hand. Really want the bike.

Yup. I'm hoping the extra will sway him my way. As long as it's being accurately represented, it's perfect.

Seems like as long as he can get the title you're going to be set. I'm assuming his revision is referring to your offer:

Yeah... Titles are weird in AZ. Make sure he gets that title in his name especially if it previous had a lien on it. I had to jump through a shit show of hoops with my super tenere, guy in Oregon never registered it in his name after he bought it from a guy in AZ that had a lien on it.

The lady at AAA (we can do all sorts of DMV stuff through them here in Southern CA) helped me out BIIIIIG TIME with the process.
