Tractor question....
Since I only drive the tractor on grass, dirt, or the rock driveway.. is there any reason not to just leave it in 4WD all the time? I noticed about 2 weeks ago that it was apparently in 4WD mode when it was delivered and I had been unknowingly using it that way for the first several weeks I had it. I changed it to 2WD, but I've had several times that I've had a rear wheel slip since making that change. Can I just put it back in 4WD and just leave it unless I have to go out on the road?

 

Yes you can. Mine has never been out of 4wd in 6yrs.... Hasn't hurt a thing & its always "in" when in need it.

"They say" you can wear out front end parts & joints faster.... But for me the whole point of having a 4wd tractor is so that its there when I need it without having to switch anything.

A lot of times you wont get into "trouble" to start with if it was already in 4wd.

My mini truck stay in 4wd as well. Only time it ever comes out is if I run down the blacktop to the store.

 

I just flip back and forth as needed with a small tractor I can feel it binding in the front sometimes and its easier for me to steer no power steering.
Don't worry about it.

 

Yeah, you are not gonna want 4wd when trying to back up a hay wagon into a tight spot.

 

Wasnt even a question of getting a good set. He will probably want to go in 50/50 on them anyways not that I expect him to. Honestly think he is just glad it is getting used and not just sitting. Before we started borrowing it he hadnt used it in like 3 years at least. He has a bigger goose neck they use a lot more

 

I know three different people who have the ego mowers for personal use and they really like them, they definatly dont have the power of a larger gas engine but two of them cut about 2-3 inches off the top when they mow.

 

Wife wants an battery mower for her Catio area.... She cant pull start the push mower & there's not enough room to get the Zero in there.

But dang the pushmower we have is almost 12yrs old & still looks new, so it might be a while, which means I get to keep starting it for her & then she says : well since you started it, you might as well just mow it for me.

That was where my biggest issue with it was though. It was 2-3" taller than the highest setting and it...sucked to be honest. But the grass was also a bit wet. But I was lucky to get 15 minutes of battery run time which meant it took basically all day to mow it between the recharging of batteries. Dont really have that concern with maintaining it now though. And of course depends on yard size too....i hate mowing grass so spending an 1-2 hours a week doing it isnt fun to me lol

 

I don't know if it's a reason not to, but you'll get a bit of a dig from the front tires when turning sharply. When doing that on the lawn or the driveway, it will tear things up a bit. I personally switch mine between 2wd and 4wd as needed. If I get a little wheel spin while in 2wd, I'll stomp on the RW locking diff. If I get a lot of wheel spin I put it back in 4wd.

 

Out of curiosity what blades are you running? Are they sharp? Yeah evening cutting 3 inches of wet grass will bog gown my gas toro timemaster.

 

Weedeated around the house and mowed 3 yards today. After walking Mal 4 miles now sitting in the shade in the front yard.

The ones that came with it. Sharpened them up the little they needed. It cut just fine just would big down under any sort of load. Now that everything is cut and dried out a bit it cuts great

But that's the thing I miss with gas...it might bog down but you just kept going. Grew up mowing a almost always wet field and the yeah, sometimes had to slow down but never had to stop


I'm not knocking the electric by any means. More just point out some of its faults. It works great for maintaining the yard now.

 

I have a Makita 18 volt string trimmer, the smallest model.
Maintaining is where it shines, for heavy clean up the gas trimmer is far faster however for the weekly trim the electric works great and is very convenient.

 

Customer contracted me to install lumber in the middle of his open center car hauler.

Of course the cross members were too high and had to be lowered 1.5". It needed a couple more cross members as well.

Still need to screw it down, but the bulk of the work is over.

I'm not sure what cars will fit on a 12' trailer. I know it would be awesome for a side by side utility vehicle.

 

We, in Missouri, just this last fall, now have 3 of the "ying-ling" beers distributed in our state. It has become my favorite -especially the lager. Hoping sometime we will be able to get all of their products in our area

 

Yuengling lager is the best beer out there IMO. It’s to bad not everyone can get it.
