I’m gonna guess that’s 20-30 tons so it’ll do a couple feet of 1/4… do you have the all important press brake chart?

And yes they do get massive.

For 600… you couldn’t buy the steel to make that for 600! Could be a good foundation for a project!

 

Yeah at our fab shop we have a massive Cincinnati brake and even that tops out at like 3/4" I believe. Hell, even bending 1/8" plate requires a decent press to do it cleanly


Definitely would have one in my dream shop if I was a millionaire tho lol

I'd do two, as well, one for me and one I'd bend up and send to my cousin, also a Koozie fiend. No bottle opener needed on the part itself, but I'd buy two of your F-Bombs if you have them laying around, too Shoot me a PM whenever you're ready to get my address and settle up? No rush whatsoever, just got a new koozie earlier today and it set off the idea.

 

Follow up to this

Tacked the mounts and top panel together and threw it up on the table

Also tacked some pipe to maintain the width needed; don't need it closing up on me when I burn it in later

It'll get replaced by a larger piece of DOM for strength





Did some CAD to work up the face



Drew it up and cut a few test pieces; this would allow me to get the right sized opening for the recovery points as well as making this a one piece



Also lengthened the recovery points as to weld them directly to the frame mounts

They will also be welded along the outer edges when they're sandwhiched together as well as at the opening on the front face



Bulk of it is now already done





Will most likely wait for the lights to be ordered before I burn things in

Gussetting will be added between the top and behind the front face

Then I'll work on closing up the bottom before doing more work on the wings

 

Finally finished the bender project.

 

While I was waiting for my Hobart Handler to cool down I called Primeweld & ordered a mig 180 from Gene. I told him @Kwikvette sent me so you could get your commisionGreat people thanks for the referral

 

Not going to lie, I miss my handler... it seemed to just work where my Eastwood 180 is more "versatile" but the Hobart would make anything easy with only one or two changes on the controls.

 

IF ONLY!

Definitely good people there for sure; may not be running my welder as often but my plasma cutter by them is always chugging without issue

 

Joined the Primeweld FB group - lots of good stuff on there from what I saw on the couple posts I read through already

 

There's a few pro's that really put their machines through the paces; Jersey Shore Welder works exclusively on aluminum and is always at the boat races, etc.

He does some real nice work

 

I read that post with the same thought. I've only used a Handler a few times, but I found it super easy to dial in.

 

I just bought the Primeweld mig 180 a couple of weeks ago as my first welder. I tried to read up as much as I could and this one for the price seemed too good to be true. So far it's been easy to learn with and I'm surprised at how good my welds are coming out for just starting. I haven't had to call support but every review I read said they were amazing to deal with. I'm glad I went with this one for sure and I'm sure it last a long time for what I'm using it for.

 

I really like the Handler I have had it for years & beat the crap out of it, just now it seems like the duty cycle is not what it use to be.
I am also liking the extra amperage & stick ability of the PW not to mention a new toy.
I am keeping the Handler BTW

 

What's the best way to remove this? Drill it out?

 

Sure, I mean that's just one angle/picture of it and depending on the tools at hand and what you're trying to keep intact varies greatly

Just know you'll want a good cobalt bit as the heat had hardened that metal up

 

Mine lived a somewhat hard life under a moving blanket in a carport (albeit in SoCal but still living outside) and at around 5 years of owning it used it just started not getting any penetration most of the time. I switched the power cable and the torch but nothing really changed it. I saw one for sale the other day and thought about buying it but it was more than a primeweld so I passed.

 

Surprised people like you that have welded for years don't upgrade to larger/nicer!

 

Picked up another PrimeWeld machine



Actually, it isn't for me. Just happened to pop up on FB and I stumbled across it.

Listed for $200, but got it for $150. Was happy to find @El Taco Diablo a means of cutting metal without resorting to an angle grinder for everything

Sat for years and was never used.

 

Just a tiny gripe, no big deal really but don't trust a manufacturer's dimensions online!

My CAD design called for over a hundredth of an inch for a snug fit



Physical product is more than three hundredths over their website's dimensions



No biggie though, just need to do some filing but I prefer to draw and cut as needed - it's why I invested into CNC

At least the other measurement was only five thousandths of an inch too big compared to my CAD



Still over two hundredths of an inch over the website's dimensions
