Yeah I figured I’m thinking too deep I’m just trying to make sure I do everything right. Thank you for all the help. And I’m sure I’m not the only person who is completely lost when it comes to electrical work. I was a diesel mechanic in the National Guard for 6 years and I can’t even figure out how to wire in an amp and a sub oh well. We’ll see how it goes this weekend

match the colors, make sure you have your input and output sides correct, and be sure to put the fuse in once the install is done. you'll do great!

Nope. The taco tunes stuff is doing the same thing, and you still have to make splices between the harnesses. So might as well buy the cheap option if you’re doing the same amount of work and need the same tools

Thanks Dustin, ive been wanting to do this install and I've read and read and I'm pretty sure I've got a good grasp on it now, just gotta order everything and get it done. I'm sure it will take me a while cause I've never did this. What about the kicker hideaway, is there wires that run from it to connect to the input side of the amp or just one wire that you connect to both the front speakers??

If you put the hideaway under a seat, the white and grey wires on it are long enough to go under the center console and run up to the radio. It will connect at the splice you make on the key’s input side.

if you want to do things the right way, get some quick connects for the power/ground, and your hideaway wires so it can be disconnected easily

The power for the hideaway runs to battery and same for key amp as well right? And as far as ground on the hideaway, seat bolt is fine I'm assuming and then what about the key ground?? As much info as I've gathered on here you seem like the man with the plan and all the answers, think u could come up with a step by step guide for my simple mind lol

I just finished the install. Not sure if I did it right. I matched wire colors, ran the ground to a bolt behind the glove box that can be seen when taking the head unit out, ran the power to the battery. I ran the wires to the sub from the input side of the key, the power to the battery, and the ground to a seat bolt. Turned everything on and disconnected the sub to do the Key set-up. Did the Key set up and got the happy tone but now it just sounds like everything is coming from the front tweeters. There’s barely any sound coming out of the rear speakers even if I fade the sound all the way to the back.
The sub works fine, I think I just need to do some more research on the settings on it. What is weird tho is that I got it working fine then when I plug in the bass control knob it seems like I have to set everything again.

Update: flipped the Fader dip switch to off, ran the Auto EQ again and that seemed to fix my issue. Sure, I lose the ability to fade but how often was I fading before? Never. Thank you @destin_meeks and all the others for the help, I appreciate it

So with the red wolf harness u cut it in half and then how does rhe wiring procedure go I'm just really unsure about how u tie in the hideaway, I know it goes on the input side of the amp and to the front speakers but your already making a connection there with the amp so do u have the hideaway wires going into that same connection or is there a t or what, I'm confused by that

Any guidance for JBL? There is a breakout kit for use at amp behind rear speaker. There is also a $300+ unit for use behind head unit. Are both needed to add amp? To add/repower sub?

Yep. Or a new head unit, but that will be a good bit more than $300

So I need the breakout harness even if I get the PAC/other brand device for low level outputs?

Can you help me with the logic/pathway?

Hey Dustin any feedback on my last post, I know your wore out with everyone's questions, I'm just puzzled by this one part, like how u tie in the hideaway, do u just make some leads off the front speakers on the wolf harness or use a t kit or what??

The breakout harness is only wiring connections. It allows you to utilize factory speaker wires without needed to cut or splice the factory wiring.
The AmpPro converts the radio’s digital signal into an analog signal your new amp can use.

the jbl radio sends computer data to the jbl amp containing audio, volume, eq, fade/balance, and the jbl amp decodes that signal and amplifies it.
Without that signal being decoded, we can’t use it. So the amppro is the decoder.

So… use the AmpPro to get low level signal without disconnecting factory amp. Disconnect the outputs from the factory amp (still in place) and connect replacement amplifier(s) to factory wiring to speakers (at least to test until I replace with better wire).

I assume I will need at least 4ga power from battery, fuse/breaker near battery, and at least a distribution block in the back to power any processors and amps… and of course an equally stout ground.

    Currently have factory electronics with
    JBL GX302 3.5 in dash w/egg crate
    Kicker 46CSC6934 6x9 3-way front door
Kicker 46CSC674 6.5 2-way rear door may change to CTSounds Bio 8” DVC 4-ohm in parallel subs in doors in rear doors
Skar 8” VD-8 DVC 4-ohm sub in factory box, may build custom box with a 10 or two or three 8”s.

Currently able to achieve fairly flat but bright 95dB.
