When you adjusted the rear drums, did you cycle the hand brake a few times then rechecked the adjustment?

other suggestions would be to keep bleeding, and if you don't live near anyone and the truck can stop would be to go around 30mph and lock the brakes a few times to cycle the abs pump which may help purge any air. Otherwise keep bleeding

Think of your brakes hydraulics as a sealed system. Master cylinder, abs module, disc calipers, drum wheel cylinders. If any of this is opened, air gets in. Once that happens, the air seems to want to get stuck in the abs module. Once that happens traditional bleeding isn't gonna get it out.

Now you have 2 options. Well, really 3. Take it to a dealership or shop with the correct techstream software to cycle the abs modules and get the air out. Or as suggested above, slam the brakes on a low traction surface to activate the abs, bleed, repeat until good. Or drive with limited braking capability until you crash, really not an option in my opinion. A forth option would be to buy the tool to cycle the abs module. Theres only one I've heard that works but it excludes certain years. Not really a good option because you're buying a unitasker tool thats a bit expensive. Theres plenty of scanners that claim to have the capability but as many have found out, they don't. Even the super expensive snapon ones won't.

So your best plan would be to find a dirt or gravel patch, lock up the brakes to activate the abs. Go home and bleed the system. Repeat as needed.

With the truck running I can pump the brakes 3 or 4 times and it will start to get stiffer

Common Signs of a Bad Brake Booster

If your brake booster is failing or it’s no longer functioning, it can affect your braking system as well as other systems. Signs can include:

    • The brake pedal is harder to push than normal. Since the brake booster operates with vacuum, the degree to which the brakes are more difficult to apply can vary. Often, the first application can be almost normal while subsequent applications shortly after get progressively harder.
    • It takes longer to stop your car. Since your braking power doesn’t have the necessary assistance from the booster, your stopping distance can increase.
    • Engine stumbling or stalling. If there’s a massive vacuum leak in the booster, it could draw more boost than normal when you apply the brakes. It takes vacuum away from other components, and it can cause your engine to stumble, the RPMs to drop, and your engine could stall.
    • The Check Engine Light can come on. Some cars are equipped with a brake booster vacuum sensor. If you have a leak, it can trigger the Check Engine light to come on.
    • Whistling sounds. A vacuum leak at the booster can translate into a whistling or hissing sound, and it’s often worst when applying the brakes.

I put a new brake booster on and new rubber brake lines on the front and bleed all the brake lines and the ABS and that helped a lot
