I have a 21 Tacoma SR 5 Off-Road with the standard infotainment sysyem, I use a 32 gb flash drive for playing music. Every time I turn the truck off, the audio is also turned off. So when start the truck, I have to turn audio back on, and then hit USB as the source to get my music to play. This is a real pain in the ass!!! Is this normal? Is there a setting that I can change to keep the USB from turning off? I have loked on the setup screen, but don't see a setting to change. I have a 2018 Tundra that does not turn off the audio when USB is selected.

The USB usage in my 23 is one of my few actual beefs so far. I do not know of a way out of your circumstance either. Takes a bit of time to be able to even use for me too (80 gig and counting on a 128 drive at the moment lol)

FYI The other big thing that goes on with the USB is that once the truck is moving you or a passenger can no longer do a proper search. For me I'd like to be able to hit browse by folder ("album" for me), but it just takes me to the same spot each time. Once the truck is stopped I can then see and search through all the folders and choose what I want. Otherwise the most you can do is skip to the first song in the previous or next folder / album. With closing in on 1000+ albums skipping one at a time is BS...

Vehicle in motion restriction is probably supposed to be so the driver isn't "distracted", but there's other things in the truck that will do that. Plus it eliminates a passenger from being able to do any decent changes to the audio.

That's not normal at all... My 2020, when I shut the truck off, well of course the audio turns off, but when I re-start it goes right back to whatever mode I had it on. Even if on USB and my thumb-drive, it goes right back to whatever point in a song it was when I last shut it off.

You need to try a different USB drive. I have 3 different ones and one of them does exactly the same thing, turns off the audio. I've had really good luck with a Samsung 64gb drive

Just curious: is any special file format required?
Will it also play .WAV or .FLAC file types?

For example, My wife's 2016 RAV4 requires a specific ISO format to play music CDs.
