You made a fact-free statement that Toyota hasn't offered turbo 4 cylinders.
You were given examples from the 80s and the 90s.

I'm in total agreement with those that say Toyota's quality stands for itself. My 4 cylinder twin turbo, coupled with the smooth 8 sp trans has got plenty of power and speed to make it great driving truck! It'll get you somewhere in a hurry!
I have been having issues with the "technology". Due to a faulty Grille Shutter system "Not initializing on Start-up" I have had several unrelated faults pop up. Several driving assist modes including cruise control are now nonfunctional because of it.
This Grille Shutter system could possibly be an outsourced item from another company or country and Toyota doesn't directly oversee its manufacturing. I can't blame that on a 1st year model issue. The automotive industry has evidently been using Grille Shutters for a long time and the one in my TRD Sport has failed at 1450 miles.

 

Precisely, not to mention releasing countless 4-cy turbo Lexus models over the last 5+ years or more, they're not just going to throw a completely untested engine in their best-selling truck. Growing pains... sure

 

A little update I actually was able to basically do away with the loud noise on my Tacoma. I bought the Carista obd2 plug went into customization and found out my truck actually had engine sound enhancement turned on. Pretty much it was putting out engine sound through my speakers to make the engine sound more v8ish I guess. Hence it sounded like it was coming from the dash area. Well either way it sucked and I turned it off took it for a drive and wow what a night and day difference. There’s still just a light tapping rattle sound during light acceleration but nothing like it was before. Man I’m a happy camper!

 

Hate that gimmick crap that serves zero purpose

 

Yeah I agree not to mention me wasting my time taking it to 2 different dealerships trying to figure out why this thing was so freaking loud!! And it was as simple as turning that fake noise junk off

 

How do you turn it off?

 

This setting is not available through that big ass 14" screen?

 

I had to buy a Carista obd2 plug and turn it off through that

 

I was also able to turn off all seat belt chimes and make it where I could roll down all the windows with 1 long press of the unlock button with key fob

 

the seatbelt chime alone would make it worth its price
