19.6 MPG on the highway. Guy did a manual calculation. Head unit reads 18.7 MPG.

I watched the entire video because I was hoping to find a reason to give up my V6 4x4 Access Cab.

Wow that’s not even that good at all. But there’ll be those idiots who say “take my money, I’ll pay upwards of $65k for it!” Lol

I wouldn't trust any of these single test results, especially on brand new vehicles.

I'd like to see an average over 3-5000 miles of mixed driving minimum. Cherry picking, I've had both 15 mpg and 22 mpg trips.

I'm interested to see what Fuelly has this time next year.

Side note: do we know how Toyota accounts for the models with different stock tire sizes? The pro has the larger size.

In all fairness to the 4th Gen Pro, I read where the iForceMax hybrid is not designed for high MPG but more to increase HP and torque.

Drive it 55mph downhill with a tail wind you can probably get 30mpg.

I can get those MPGs on my lifted truck with 33s. Driving no faster then ~60 though.

You're not too far off. I drive all state roads so anywhere from 40 to 55mph. I can consistently get 24-26. Both fill ups have been in the 25 range.

    Not the hybrid, but yea...

True, but it also has a smaller fuel tank as well.

So this was final reason I went with the v6 RR. It averages 18 if I keep the pedal off the floor. ‘21 pro usually averages 15 with a manual transmission. I expected more from the gen 4 Tacoma.

This is one data point. Confirmation bias is in play until more data is collected.

Also, as he did point out in the video, steady highway speeds are not where hybrid drivetrains excel. Stop and go is where they do well.
