Happy Sunday afternoon, everyone. Happy belated B-days to the ones that I missed. Work has been insane ( literally). The kid that keeps writing the rouge Macros that keeps making the models crash- apparently that's a good way to get a promotion in this company. More on that later, I don't want to re-live any of it right now.

    20240425_200901.jpg

I've been chasing a reoccurring crack in the dining room ceiling, it was time to crawl through the attic to figure out what was going on. It must have been the drywall apprentices first day on the job when they sheeted this house, they missed the nailer by a few inches. So much for the new construction inspections..

    20240425_204203.jpg

I made some drop in nailers that span the joists, so now I can drive in some screws to pull the saggy drywall back up and it will stay secure.

I was hoping that you'd finally get out into the camping again.

decided to go for a walk this afternoon as the sun was finally out for a bit today. went on one of the walking trails up town - i posted a bunch of pics from my last excursion up there through all of the old mine yards. anywho... get a couple hundred yards away from where i parked my truck and passed a couple folks sitting on a bench, get a couple hundred yards past them and all of a sudden these two dogs come charging over the hill right at me. i dont know exactly where they came from but i was no where near any houses. i doubled back the way i came and the dogs kept coming at me so i stop and stood my ground, started yelling at them. they were circling me, barking and baring their teeth. i kept trying to make my way back up the trail and they kept following me. i looked at the folks i passed had stood up and the guy was coming my way and he was holding a backpack, ready to swing it at the dogs. i finally got closer to them and the dogs backed off a bit. tried to call animal control to go pick them up but they're not open until tuesday. guess i'll be packing my bear spray next time i want to go for a walk in town.

oh, and i found $24 in the parking lot when i got back to the truck. no idea where it came from as it wasn't there when i got out of the truck

Back to work tommorow. took the week off to get stuff done at the house. soo proud of my 2 son’s. the youngest took the day to take my grandaughters to Luray Caverns, then a picnic lunch. oldest played in a huge charity softball tourney(65 teams). girls had a blast. 5 brackets in the tourney. they were in the top bracket. the one above them was payed teams. yes they have payed softball teams. they won the top bracket then played a payed team. lost but earlier in the weekend could have beat them. so took 1st place in the top bracket.son is front row, 1st red shirt from the left

Carry Halt - it doesn't hurt them but they leave you alone. I've carried it for years and have sprayed a few dogs that have approached us https://www.chewy.com/halt-dog-repe...2533&msclkid=cfb4b7b5b8a61c4e42b1d19b52b50abe

Petco should have it. I know Amazon has it. I started carrying it with Ollie, the night after she got attacked by a bigger dog and she looked at me, as if saying "you are supposed to protect me". Thankfully she wasn't hurt, other than her mental health.

Glad to hear that the dogs didn't attack, but still a scary thing to have to go through. Use the $24 towards the bear spray! ( or a Mossberg 550 w/ pistol grips...:quickdraw:)

There was a Scale model train show this weekend. I got to talk with the Colorado Model railroad museum Director, she was an incredibly nice person that did a great job of bring awareness to the museum but also the narrow gauge railroads in Colorado and New Mexico.

A club layout- someone has a sense of humor!

I found something that I shouldn't have bought, but it was priced pretty low compared to other sets that have recently sold on a specialty auction website. From the quick research I did, these were probably made in the mid 1960's in Toyoko, Japan.

It's a full set of the prototypical rail cars used in passenger service on the D&RGW during the 40's through the late 60's when passenger service stopped.
