So I just bought my truck from a dealer less than three weeks ago. It’s a 2023. It had one owner before me. The dealership told me that one of the guys that worked for the dealership had bought it May of last year and traded it in around February. They had it listed as a SR on their website and I didn’t think much of it when I bought it. I just got the paperwork from them on Friday so I can go to the DMV and it says that it’s an SR. I thought it was a TRD off-road. The truck has every option on it including leather seats, JBL sound system, TRD wheels with 265/70R17 tires, 4x4, white TRD front skid plate and a lot more. I even did a vin search and it came back as a SR5. I’m just confused.

A lot of VIN searches will just show as SR5 regardless of upgraded trim level.

Does your overhead switch panel look like this?

Lot of dealerships are fluffing up base model trucks and selling them for huge mark ups. Rims/tires, Lift add about 8K

I paid 39k out the door for my 2019 TRD 4x4 fully loaded, leather seats, sun roof. I seen a 2024 TRD 4x4 for 50K not including tax/fee with no leather seats. prices are crazy now

In Toyota's system, TRD is not a trim. Rather, it's an option pkg on the SR5 trim.
    - That wheel design was not offered on the Tacoma. Judging by the Wildpeak tires in that size, previous owner likely installed 4Runner TRD Pro takeoffs.
    - SR5 without the TRD pkg lacks the side view mirror turn signals. Those would be cumbersome to retrofit, requiring turn signal wires to be run from the dash through the door flex conduits to the mirrors.
    - Overhead console with the MTS/Crawl rotary knob is the most reliable way to confirm you have a TRD OR.

All Tacomas are listed as SR5 unless SR. Don't fret. I wish the registry didnt show trim levels because it causes this confusion.

    It's 100% a real Offroad model.

If you're really worried, go visit a Toyota dealer and they can print off the spec list for your vin.

    Its an off road

No hood scoop, no sport, no stamped bed, no pro.

    You have locker?

Electric lime was on pro for 2022 and trd sport/off roads for 2023

Only if the truck is an automatic. For the manuals, there isn’t Crawl Control and the dial is replaced by the sunglasses holder. But there’s still the rear diff locker button on the overhead switch panel

OP, you can put the VIN on Toyota’s Owners website and it’ll show you the specs of your truck

If you have crawl control, locker, JBL, sunroof, leather seats, you would also have the tech package (blind spot monitor, radar cruise control, top down camera, rear sonar on 6' bed, etc). If you have all that it is the OR Premium.

    MSRP on a 23 OR-Premium was $48.8k last July.

You are thinking too hard, over analyzing things. Probraly, the previous owner installed every option after buying the 2023 Tacoma. He could have gotten "employee discounts" on parts. I don't know.:D

For the manual trucks, I'd look for the diff locker switch that's near the sunglasses holder (where the MTS/Crawl Control dial would be)

    If it's a Sport he won't have a locker.
