Hammered the 10mm hex in and used a 24" breaker bar.

What a bear it was to crack open that drain plug! I finally found a short stem, 10mm impact hex and I too then used a 24" breaker bar on it. That after letting PBlaster soak in for a week! I replaced both the drain and fill hex plugs with the 14mm hex head plugs, one I believe had a Toyota part number and one a Lexus...

Hey I have a 2003 4runner V6 and I want to replace the 10mm Allen hex front differential filler plug with a hex bolt head type. Ive heard Lexus makes one. NOT the drain plug, the fill plug. Mine is beginning to strip and I want a bolt head type.
Does anyone know the part number for the filler drain plug bolt head that replaced the stupid 10mm Allen hex filler plug version?
    Thanks!

Just bought both on eBay, says 2 weeks from Japan. Local Toyota dealer said he couldn’t get it since it’s from a Lexus. Go figure.

Yep you're right. I was searching Toyota dealers and found nothing. I just searched Parker Lexus in Arkansas and they have both part numbers.

That Amazon link is for a replacement of the plug already on the truck, not the replacement Lexus plug that member was looking for. I got 9034118060 for $9.47 going through Toyota.com and choosing Conicelli Toyota of Springfield. I got 90341-24016 from https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/lexus-plug-for-front-differential-drain~90341-24016.html

I also had a hard time removing my front Diff drain plug on my 2007 4x4. What do you guys think about something like a Valvomax quick oil drain plug. YES there is some risk of it catching while off road, etc.

From research I think the size of the drain plug is M24-1.50, can anyone confirm? There is a Valvomax quick drain in that size.

    Anyone do something like this?

    Thank you!

I’d say no, because draining and refilling the diffs isn’t as frequent as an oil change. I have the Lexus fill and drain plug and they’ve been great. I will say, in reference to Valvoline, I used the Valvoline synthetic gear oil in the squeeze bags and I highly recommend them.

Just did all my diffs, tranny, and transfer oils after 100k km.
What a pain in the ass removing aluminum skids with stripped nuts.
Everything else was fairly easy, just a pain on your back in the driveway.
The front diff was something else. I hammered the 10mm hex into the nut, after heating the bottom of the transfer with a propane torch, and it finally gave way.
Don’t know why that nut requires 48ft/lbs vs all others ~29ft/lbs
    ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯?

Chisel worked. I just got a cold chisel from lowes, the 3/4" one. It was a bit sharp and dug into the bolt. I had half a mind to grind down the "blade" on the chisel so it was more dull and wouldn't dig too deep into the plug, but after about 7 hits it turned. I'd say, go as is and if its not moving, and youre digging too deep, then dull the chisel blade.
