The stars aligned for us Saturday. We were able to spend the day wrenching and riding with the whole stable.

Oil and filter change on the 450X with my helper.

    IMG_8703.jpg

New plastics, graphics, skid plate, spark plug, OEM carb + rebuild, fuel lines, etc. on the 50. Plus a little rip around the yard during naptime. Me and her may end up fighting over it lol what a fun bike

    IMG_8690.jpg

Ended the day with a bump start on the 650L and checked on the other girls. Trying to work up the courage to buy another shorai battery for the ol pig.

Thought so.... I went through and greased every suspension pivot on my super tenere when i got it. Pulled the swing arm and alll of the linkages. Greased and put back together. Not sure about he FJR but on the super tenere there is a yellow hard grease paste in there and everything was very clean on my bike even at 22k miles. The grease added was definitely peace of mind though. It was a pain in the butt job though.

My new Öhlins rear shock has shipped and will be here tomorrow. Placed an order for fork oil, graduated cylinder and brake fluid. Going to do the dump and run fork oil change. The brake fluid I am sure has been in there since the original owner installed the braided brake lines. Also the fork oil I am positive is orig from 2012. Placed and order for a stock seat but it’s on back order but is still an active part number so I will wait on that. Waiting for a response from motion pro about a longer clutch cable so I can add a 1” handle bar spacer. I have gen 1 bars on the gen 2 and the clutch cable does not have anymore room to go up. I tested it by taking the 1” risers off my Klx and putting them on the FZ1. I really liked the added height.

Printed up a different, better(?) mount for my tiny GPS.

To replace this, which is working fine.

There's a cleat on the base that locks into the groove, and a zip tie slot for good measure.

The goal was a little more tilt up to stop the sun glare and better visual of the screen.

Buttonwillow was a blast on Friday. Think it might be time to move up to B class since an instructor called me out for being in C lol. Looking forward to the next one.

IDK why body positioning seems to be such a challenge for me. On the bike, it feels like I'm hanging off pretty decently. but the pics clearly show I'm barely off the center line. Also need to be more cognizant of keeping my knees tight to the tank. More to work on I guess lol.

Saturday was a solid day of riding up to Cars and Coffee then a friends moving away party. Sunday I'm pretty sure I caught a bit of food poisoning, as I woke up this morning at 5AM to eject from both ends repeatedly. Had to come into work still so i brought the truck today just to be safe.

Sorry for the huge pics lol

Get your head down where the mirrors should be, and look through the corners. Stop worrying about moving your body around for now.

I spent a few years away from racing moto, and got back into with rebuilding a CR125 (a notoriously slow/underpowered bike to begin with).

Of course, the first few times on the track I felt like I was flying. Sounded fast, felt fast, until I saw a video of me riding.

    Talk about humbling lol

I would love to pick up a late model (can I really call a 20 year old bike late model?) CR125 and ship the engine off to Eric Gorr. I think 144cc would suit that chassis really well. Unfortunately, any 04-05 CR is going to cost you 5 grand plus in this country. Don’t know what the prices are like in the US.

Swear everything on motos feels way more exaggerated than it actually is. Speed, lean angle, braking.

Being in C class on a 300 with others on 600s and 1000s is fun lol. Really gotta carry as much speed through the turns to stay ahead of guys who are undoubtedly gonna catch you on the straights. Lots of yo-yo-ing with some of the better riders in the class. Outside passing is so satisfying
