Topher was impressed, pretty good sign from someone who has driven plenty of real performance cars. Sounds like they nailed the suspension tuning on the TH. Good on road handling characteristics while also being compliant enough off-road. The power train looks awesome, I wish it had paddle shifters. Haven’t driven the new Colorado yet but it sounds like this suspension is better than the zr2 for daily driving. That intake sounds amazing too with the turbo, better than my 3rd gen with a trd cat back. I love the amount of effort Toyota put into these top level trims. They gave it so much personality. It’s nice that a 6ft bed is available in the TH. It really makes it more usable than a ranger raptor without needing to jump up to a full size. You’d be hard pressed to find a full size with comparable features and off-road accessories at that price anyway. IMO the price gap between the top trims and base trims is more justified than it was on prior gens. You’re getting a lot more for your money than you got with a 3rd gen pro, and those were regularly selling for 55k or more.

All kidding aside, I'm not sure this particular Toyota hybrid powertrain makes sense for most prospective buyers.

 

In before someone else points out he bought a RR. Agree with everything else, except the price is still painful.

 

I'm on the fence , I like power but I think it's limited to below 50 km per hour.

 

I think they did such a good job with the core engine that most people will be happy with that. 20 mpg on 33’s is alright in my book. I usually get between 16-18 in my current truck.

 

No doubt the heavier rubber on the Pro works against the hybrid but I doubt the Sport would see that much better. It is what it is.

 

Yea, it’s a little unfortunate. So many variables affect mpg though. TFL somehow got 26mpg in their off-road I when they did their test.

Looks like it still beats out the high output 2.7 in the Colorado. And nobody has mentioned that the raptor is getting 16 mpg city, 18 mpg highway, that’s pretty rough. It has better top end performance, but still, those are epa estimates probably tested in ideal conditions. Ouch.

 

I will mention the mileage for my 2019 Ranger XLT FX4, I get a constant 23 MPG average highway and city driving. Most of it is highway though.

Nice, I was always impressed by the power and efficiency of that engine.

 

My wifey lets me drive it once in awhile.

 

Time will tell. 27 MPG would have been great.

My mistake looks like it was 24 mpg. But yea I don’t have any reason to doubt them on that particular video, do you?

In the same video they also towed with the truck before properly breaking in the engine which Toyota advises against. Might be something to note if engine issues pop up with their test truck eventually.

They get a lot of info wrong, and I often take what they say with a grain of salt. Do you think the actual mpg is lower or higher than they stated?

Are the tires on the pro “Toyota spec” tires? The tires on my 23 Pro Sequoia have less tread than normal Falken AT3W

 

There are very few owners reporting MPG here. Until I see more data points, I’m not really sure what the number is, and how it was derived. If the stock iForce or iForce MAX gets 24mpg at 70mph on cruise control across 500 miles of flat land, I’d be surprised.

The TFL guys don’t come off as precise to me. So I disregard a lot of their “content”.

I’d be happy with 20mpg around the city in a stock 2024 Tacoma Pro.
