Loved the pep of that power plant when I test drove one in 2019.

The EPA MPG test is as standardized as you are going to get. Drivers may get less (or more) depending how and where they drive but if you are comparing vehicles, the difference between the two will be the same. If you don't get 23 combined from a Tacoma Max, you won't get 17 combined from a Ranger Raptor or ZR2. Lots of data points from random drivers with unknown loads, acceleration profiles, cruise speeds, idle times, etc are meaningless.

21ish under ambient conditions at 70 MPH in pancake-flat central Texas is probably about right. The other guy drove his truck at 43 MPH around Salt Lake for 87 miles and did 27 MPG. Obviously conditions are a major factor. Most can probably hit the EPA numbers.

That looks so fun. Engine and suspension look dialed. Can’t say I’m a fan of the exterior or interior though. I wonder why they don’t offer blue Cruz, should be included at that price point considering you can get SS in a base sr.

Yes, but not all hybrid systems hit the numbers they are supposed to hit. With the mild-hybrid nature of the Gen4, the weight/aero package might have an oversize negative impact on real-world efficiency. That said, most should be able to hit the EPA numbers if they consciously attempt to do it.

That's why I'm skeptical the Donut guy overtemped the Pro. All of the testing Toyota did, all of the testing DG Spec did in Vegas, the Toyota reps that probably ran the authorized course the media was allowed to drive a dozen times to make sure it was safe - they never overtemped it, but these two randos did?

Damn that SOUNDS like a blast. I'd maybe try to go less aggressive with the tires (defeats the purpose, I know) and really use it as a daily, pull the boat, haul fishing gear, etc. etc.

As an owner of three of hybrids (Prius, 2X Rav4), I've seen it first hand. EPA drives cars on a dynometer, I believe. No idea how they model wind/resistance; battery fade in cold weather; etc, etc. Twelve months or so and the real world numbers should start to show up. Hopefully it hits the 27 MPG or whatever that dude measured in his test loop.

2.7 V6 went up today on Fords site for the regular Ranger. $2,195 option making a fully optioned Lariat MSRP $53,520 before discounts.

Pretty neat how Ford slipped that in there. Still like 5k more to get the 2.7 V6 which is standard on 2024 F-150.

I don’t see what all this hoobaloo is about. Life is too short to chase the difference of +/- 5mpg.

That’s just me. YMMV literally haha

Depends on where you start. It's not available on the XL so you have to pay the extra 3k to go up to the XLT first.

Were you the one who wanted cooled seats on the Ranger? I can't remember which person liked the Ranger but needed a cooled tuchus. The discounts on Ranger will be hard to beat on a Tacoma. Although $3,000 off on Tacomas are already popping up.

It is over time. However if I was going to chose mpg I would drive a Honda civic or something… you know what I mean?

That was me. If I am spending that much coin I want no swamp ass and my nuts to be chilled.
