Hi folks, thought I'd check in w/ the community... a put a quick video on my YT page showing issues.

I already have 1 Add a Fuse in use for Raptor Fog Lights using the Fog Light fuse in the fuse box.

I'm trying to find a second one that I can use now for my Auxbeam Switch. I only want it on when the car is in accessory mode or running. Only have Lightbar and Airhorn hooked up to it now.

Any suggestions? I tried the blanks but they are all hot when car is off.

    Thanks! Rov

Fog Light fuse is always "hot".
Most are using the INJ fuse.

Thanks, was excited and made change first thing this morning, but the INJ fuse is hot when car is off. The auxbeam switch panel is lit up without me starting the car. Poop.

Can you just add a new add a fuse, not just tapping into an existing one, to a circuit that is only hot when engine is running like wipers, auto windows, radio ?

are you suggesting installing a 30A fuse in place of a 10A fuse, and splicing into the wiring later on in the harness?

no, you can't just change the fuse size-- the wiring coming off the fuse block is specifically rated for the size of the fuse. installing a larger fuse creates significant risk of burning your truck to the ground.

this is specifically why fuse panels are no longer allowed in residential houses anymore. too many people were putting pennies behind the fuse to complete the circuit after getting tired of blowing fuses from pulling too hard on the circuit, and creating house fires.

    No.
I'm suggesting adding a new add a fuse to a circuit that's the same rating as you want but is only hot with ignition on. Also installing a new add a fuse allows you to use whatever fuse rating you want to the new device. There is no splicing involved when using a proper add a fuse. Don't know how to explain it better.

It's NOT the INJ fuse you would tap that does that, it's the wiring from the battery to the relay. It's meant to have the added circuit "available" always. o_O
But, the INJ fuse is also energized to do the fuel system test after engine shutdown... :rimshot:

I wired up my Auxbeam a couple weeks ago. Struggled with this exact issue, finally went with the fuse box under the dash for the add-a-fuse. I didn’t want to put a hole in the fuse box cover in the engine compartment and couldn’t find a way out among the wire loom. I put the add-a-fuse on the USB fuse in the cab. My reasoning was that if something goes wrong the loss of the USB would not shut down the whole truck and it was an ACC fuse turning off with the switch. Working just as I wanted.

Intelligent, sound, basic, logical reasoning, not like some others. Congrats.

Don't need to. You can easily open the clip that hold the harness and route your wire inside of the fuse box.

Thanks for reply. Haven't confirmed, but I don't see them under good and assuming in the cab. Have been trying to avoid pushing another wire through the firewall however it looks like that's the way I'm going...✌️

Thank you. Looks like I'm going through the FW. Unfortunately I did drill a teeny hole to run the wire through the cover under the hood, so it looks like I'll do a quick little HDP patch weld to cover up when done. So much more work! Why couldn't Yoda just put an extra slot that switchable under the hood!!

If you have the Tow Package you have 2 sources in the aux box next to main fuse/relay box...

I do!! Fooey... already ran to interior fuse panel. used P/Outlet1 for switched power source, now it works. PS - I did try Sunroof too but that was constant.

So those of use now using "Add a fuse" for internal fuse panel, you're just leaving the Fuse Panel Cover off now??

Thanks for everyone's helping me check this item off the list!!

    - Rov

Now I might consider hooking up the radar dector directly too... but then I lose the mute button on the cig lighter plug end.
