Summit is OOS also. RockAuto has an SKF in stock. There's a place in GB that does driveshaft work.

    Lotta helpful people 'round here.

Another thing I'm finding with this carrier bearing is the mounting holes are over an inch wider than the 2nd gen's.

Adam @wi_taco , you will need to be aware of the differences if you ever use Jason's driveshaft.

I talked to the place in GB that I've worked with before, and they said they very likely have a bearing on the shelf. I found 2 online...one on eBay that I suspect may be a Chinese junk copy and the other I have questions as to how they have one for $35, when others list at $115-$175 (if I could find in stock).

Good to know, thanks! I was thinking about how to possibly remove the carrier bearing non-destructively for ya but I don't know a way yet. And since Jason shortened up the front shaft I was just going to harvest the back piece, U joints, and flanges as trail spares anyways (while planning to destroy the carrier in the process of taking it apart). Just moved it around in the garage last night too before I ever saw your posts lol.

Thanks for the thought. Once you get the middle yoke apart, you'd have to use some kind of oversized bearing puller, maybe have to use a press. That said, after looking at it, a person might destroy it getting it off.

I bought the used driveshaft because nothing wants to budge easily on the old driveshaft and I may have a damaged yoke. Without pulling out my press and forcibly pulling the u-joints apart, I won't know. If the yoke is damaged, I may just re-tube the back half of the old driveshaft and make it a 1 piece and keep the one I just bought for a spare. With the 1 piece, I would put the splined portion towards the diff for a little added clearance.

It shouldn't surprise me how frozen all of this stuff is after 110k miles.

Doing all of this driveshaft research, I've found that mine isn't a very early '17, as I have no grease zerks on any of the u-joints, front or rear driveshaft. I don't know how early in '17 Toyota switched.

BTW, after getting a better look at the driveshaft on the floor, the front u-joint was failing also.

Goodies from Canada showed up today. So hopefully it doesn't rain tomorrow so I can get them mounted
Aluminum sliders from Greenlane Offroad only 27lbs each and never have to worry about rust.

Drove in five different states today! Whew. Currently staying on the banks of the Rapahatic (sp) river near its mouth in Chesapeake Bay. @Pixeltim they have 40 new 420’s for the sailing team. Got a picture of practice:

I'll hopefully mount them tomorrow and post a few pictures.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll get a chance to really test them out for 2 years, which is when I plan to go Arizona and Utah for a few weeks.

Maybe next summer when I go to Michigan I might find something to get stuck on.

I just don’t know if aluminum will hold up to the pounding that some members of our group would force me to subject it to!

RCI sliders are on sale for $787 for my truck, but shipping is $350! Insane.
