Semi-bad news on the Tacoma. Definite hump in the frame - not big but there. They're going to take it in on the 14th and pull it apart to see how bad it is, if there are any cracks and then go from there. Ugh.

It should have enough value in the truck to get a frame put on it. Problem will be parts availability, as it seems that's still an issue o_O

The guy at the shop told me the big problem is that Tacoma parts go for such a premium that my truck is worth more in parts than whole. He said he's seen insurance companies total them for $12K in damage rather than repair them. A frames isn't all that expensive. But the labor to put it on is pretty costly.

Gen4s are expensive although my calculations say they have increased in price at about the same rate as everything else over the last few years. I've watched a few YouTube videos regarding them and I do like their appearance and style.

I've watched a few videos. I'm am mechanically incompetent so I won't pretend to get into the specs, but I know it's a different engine. The videos I have watched said they have more power and a low rpm. They also have 8 gears so less searching. The question is, will they last like the old one and the consensus seems to be, "time will tell."

Yea, I shouldn't have bought a first year of a new gen especially with a new engine, but if it turns out to be a dumpster fire then after the warranty I'll get something else. I don't foresee any problems honestly.

Just getting done with work now. Nephew moves like a robot lol. Not much pep in his step either. Had to not really yell but yell if you get my drift. He was slowing me down. I should have been done 3hrs ago. But hey I got more hours today.

Good evening. Recently I asked for some advice/insight from folks more knowledgeable than myself on replacing the rear sub-assembly tow hitch on my 2006 Tacoma. Looking to order the tow hitch and would like to know if anyone has dealt with Extreme Terrain. They have a tow hitch on their web site from Red Rock which looks like it may work and thought I would ask if someone has dealt with them. Thanks.

They're local to me here in PA. They have warehouses everywhere. My main complaint is that they will show stuff in stock, and it's actually being drop shipped from the manuf. So instead of being 3-4 days shipping, it may end up as weeks.

Other than that, I've purchased from them regularly with no issues. They're one of the bigger outlets (parent company is American Muscle).

I have made several purchases from them. My orders have always showed up within 2 days. I have zero complaints with their service. Yesterday morning I ordered a set of bed stiffeners and noticed an option to pick them up and receive a $5 voucher applied to my account. Turns out they're located exactly 3 miles from my house. They are now my favorite truck toy store.

That's pretty cool to have a truck store down the road from where you live. Not too many truck stores close to me just alot of tuner garages. BTW thank you for your service. My Father is retired chief of police In the town I grew up in.

You're welcome and thank you for saying that. I grew up in Washington, in Warren County.
