I bought a 2006 Tacoma regular cab 2wd 2.7l with 180,000 miles on it in February, that I paid 4,500 for. So far I have had to get steel welded on to the chassis because there was a lot of rot and I have also gotten a new muffler because of rot. The truck bed is also lopsided.

I have no idea. We can’t say without knowing what you paid.

But from the sounds of it, it was not a good buy.

It sounds like the price was low because the frame is rusted out.

Your first post should have been titled......."look at these pics and tell me if I should buy this rusty truck for the asking price of X,XXX". I'm guessing you already know the answer. Good luck. Keep us up to date with your progress, especially if you fix/repair your frame.

Yeah, give us a photo dump of the rig. Couple just of the whole truck, and a bunch of the frame and suspension or anywhere it's rusty.

Welding a truck to keep it from falling apart is probably a bad thing.

Also, unless you’re in Alaska or Hawaii, you should probably go out of your rust belt coastal state to find a vehicle that is in great shape for the same amount of money.

Sorry to hear that, man. Is your mechanic helping you get the frame repaired relatively cheap?

and that'd probably be to pull the salvageable parts off to put on a different truck.

Unfortunately, you'll need a new frame. Not sure what exact model you have but pricing ranges from 2700 to 2900. Understand that that is just for the frame, you'll likely need additional components especially if the frame looks like that so it'll add on price. You'll also need to include the labor for the frame swap so for a rough estimate, take the cost of all the parts and triple it then add that to your parts and that'll be roughly what you're looking at being out the door. It's up to you if its worth it to you but I wouldn't let my worst enemy drive that truck into a volcano. Sorry you got the shaft but it is fixable, but that depends on how much money you are willing to throw at it.
