    May is National Wildfire prevention month as we also celebrate 80 years of Smokey Bear as the National spokesperson spokesbear.
    The original Smokey was rescued as a cub from a fire in the Lincoln National Forest near Capitan, NM
    Firefighters treated his burns and shipped him to the national zoo in Washington, DC where he was proclaimed the mascot for fire prevention. He became so popular that he had to be issued his own zip code. Not even Leonardo DiCaprio can make that claim. https://smokeybear.com/
