5w30 or 10w30

I'm wondering which oil to use. 01 2.7 with 160,xxx miles. My buddy says to run 10w30 due to the high miles but I want to run 5w30 because that's what my car takes (05 Lexus es330) and it would be easier to buy the same oil for both vehicles. I will be running full synthetic and the p.o. Ran 5w30 in it the last time the oil was changed. I live in south Texas and yes it gets hot down here.

 

run whatever the manual recommends.

 

You will be fine with the 5-30

 

I agree with 077,but, 5w or 10w is in relation to cold starts(engine).

 

+1. 5w30 thickens less when it cools, therefore it is better for cold starts than 10w30. Both weights are basically the same at operating temp.
