Any rubbing with 2" lift and 265/70/17

I have a Bilstien 2inch lift. I want to run a 265/70/17. I want to leave the possibility for 285s in the future.

Would I rub with 265/70/17s with a
TRD Pro 17" 17x8 6x139 +5 offset?

 

Should not rub with the 265. Probably will with the 285 when turning but that will depend on your alignment specs. Usually high caster arms + a proper alignment + a CMC will clear all 285.

 

I’m running 265/70R17 on 4Runner wheels, stock suspension. No issues to date.

I think these wheels are +10 offset.

 

I had 285's on a +1 offset with no issues. I believe it gets questionable at +15

 

Im running bilstein's 6112's with lift, 285/70/17's on 0 offset wheels, NO rub whatsoever with no CMC, oem uca's, so you should be fine.

 

Running this exact set up (but billies on setting 4 for 1.55 inch lift) with no rubbing.

 

It's all about the offset. I rubbed a tiny bit with -12 offset. 0 to positive makes less and less chance it will rub

 

I ran a similar size tire 265/75R16 (both are 31.6 inches) with no lift and no rubbing on or off road. So even without a lift you would be OK.

 

Positive offset runs the risk of hitting UCA’s though, no? Isn’t that why all them big boys have -38mm offset (with CMC)…

 

Positive offset moves things inboard. More chance of hitting suspension stuff.

Negative offset moves things outboard. More chance of hitting body/sheetmetal stuff.

High positive offset with wide tires= hitting UCA
High negative offset with wide tires = hitting body/wheel well

Yup, haven't had any issues; including running the wheel/tire with no lift for the first 20K miles. I think the Toyota 4runner Pro/Sema wheels are 4 degree offset.

they were on the stock TRD Off Road wheels which I believe the off set was +25

 

Im wanting to run this exact setup, what brand wheel are you running exactly? And where did you get them? Ive only found replica wheels with those specs but the oem 17s i found were only 7 inchs.

It depends on the brand tire but like I said 265/70R17 and 265/75R16 on tire calculator measure 31.6 (they call them 32s) but the Tacoma will accommodate them with no lift with no rubbing issues or alignment issues. Fitting 285 or wider and taller is a different matter. I got a 2" lift and although I went with Bilsteins I got the lift with OME coils up front and an Icon Leaf pack in the rear. I am now running 285/75R16 (33s) I like 16" wheels because I want more side wall. But because I didn't want any rubbing issues I got a viper cut and cab mount chop or alignment problems SPC UCA. Also I wanted to have it set up to go even bigger - 34s or even 35s in the future.

 

You should be fine. My truck is stock height, has 17x8.5 +0 wheels with 265/70R17 tires and I have no issues.

Once you go 285/70R17, you'll want to get some upper control arms that allow for higher caster, so you don't rub much on the cab mount. You may also have to trim some plastic as well
