Btw, how many cans of each for sliders? I'm guessing one won't do it.

I, uh, ordered some similar stickers the day I ordered the skids :anonymous:

Went with RCI in spite of shipping woes our group has had. Hoping they get here before Tigerton in June so I don't miss out on more butt puckering fun :fingerscrossed:

I took the cheap route when I bought my sliders. The rattle can primer and paint were salt blasted to bare metal after 3 snowstorms. In the spring I spent a 'lil money on POR-15. It's a metal sealant which you can paint over in any color you want. If it is exposed to UV rays, it'll chalk so you do want to cover it up.

Carlos, POR-15 it is made specifically to Paint....Over...Rust. It's been on for 2 winters. Only places it's worn off are from bashing on rocks. I do have to touch up the pant when needed. Comes in silver or black.
When I got my skids bare metal, POR-15 went on from the start. They aren't exposed to the sun, so I have never painted them. Amazon has it. Be aware, once you use it, the lid will bond to the can and will never, ever let go. Put a piece of cling wrap between the lid and the can..

I think I'll take you up on this Rich. I'll trade you for some home made baked goods. No hurry at all either. We can make the swap the next time I see you.

Missed a day and some good Simpsons talk! Yeah, I'm kind of a super fan. Seasons 1 through 8 or so are some of the best stuff. Then we get into some good Jerkass Homer seasons that some don't like, but there's a lot of gold there, and we all know the show is mostly about Homer. Fans like to complain that the show should have ended after almost every season, and there were some weak years, but we all kept coming back for more. The last few seasons have definitely rebounded with some great material.

I did see the episode where they killed off Larry the Barfly a couple weeks ago. There was some serious interwebs backlash, saying it was too dark and such, but I thought it was a great episode with some really funny stuff in the middle of a touching story. The show has been on for 35 seasons and consistently comes through with fresh and funny stuff. And you can find a Simpsons quote or clip for just about any situation. I guess I do that a lot here, and you can't stop me!

    Also, Futurama. :D

I like the windoors, but otherwise, those look cheap as hell. Do it right with either a soft topper or a fiberglass.

I wanted to try something new and did KBS coating on mine which is similar/same as POR-15 but UV stable. But I also topcoated it with their product too. I'm very happy with how it has held up, but would I do it again? Yes and no. I think if you have front mudflaps to keep them from getting obliterated with gravel, then you can justify spending more on the coating. If no front mudflaps then it doesn't matter what you use it's going to get blasted by rocks and road junk. I lost my front flaps around the time when my lift went in and yeah the sliders have suffered for it.

Installed the aluminum sliders today. I don't know why people complain about installing them. It was incredibly easy to do solo with no jack.
Took about 10 minutes start to finish on the passenger side. The driver side took a bit longer. The front bolt wasn't easy to get on and the electric box nuts were rusted.
For the bolts on the driver side that are near the brake lines I installed them backwards so it has less chance of rubbing the lines.

Take your fingers and gently bent the brake lines away from the head of that bolt. The lines may still hit the head and wear through. I did say gently, and it only takes about 1/4". Brake lines bend pretty easily. Use your thumb as a fulcrum to keep from kinking the line.

You can't see it in the picture but there is almost a 1/4" of clearance already.

People complain because the steel ones are 75lbs.

    Hmmm maybe that's it.
I just couldn't figure it out while I was holding them up with one arm to put in the cross member bolt. Then let them hang from that one bolt.

I was able to get them within 1/4" of the holes, playing a balancing act on 3 jack stands.
The rest was holding with one arm, bolt with the other.
My knees and feet got involved at one point or another...
Other than that. Piece of cake.
