    Color matched
    Mech LSD 8.4
    Bolstered seats
    Hood scoop

    seems sport
    whatever that’s worth
    That’s what I have/had before changing it

OR would mean 8” eLocker and chrome grill and rear bumper etc

removed my stickers and badges because they are dumb.
Maybe there is one but I haven’t seen a good looking bedside sticker yet.
Only cool thing I’ve seen is topographic vinyl onto the tailgate. And whatever on the hood to reduce glare.

I doubt it’s a fake sport. Because that would be a lot of work.
Most fake trucks do none of the work and just put a fake looking sticker and call it a day.

    actually take that back
    This is a good one
    But would need white paint…

Think about wire-brushing and priming that housing with Rustoleum and a coat of paint, then spray it down with Fluid-Film. Do this all the way across. These can get porous and then it's game-over.

Worth it to also say here: do not remove that drain plug until you confirm that the fill-plug will move. Verify the spare mechanism is still working/moveable so you won't get stranded by surprise with no spare.

Congrats on the truck and glad you figured it out.
Someone as particular as myself would not have been happy receiving a Sport if I wanted an Off-Road.

    Beware for TLDR inc. :p
You've read my mind Wiliston. I appreciate the advice. Wisdom on the fill plug and spare mount. Could save from a bad time.
I've got a gallon of fluid film sitting in the back seat and spray wand to dive deep into the frame, diff and coat any rust i can uncover. Remarkably there isn't any rust at all on the actual body of the truck, just the frame and undercarriage, diff, spare and mount mostly. Gonna use a modified chimney pipe brush to spin inside the frame and blow out any accumulated debris first, die-grind wire wheel the heck out it (quick cut wheel as well) then rust restoration primer and rust paint to do the entire undercarriage and follow up with fluid film (plan to spray annually). Since recently replacing the frame, i'm going to really do everything i can to keep this used one from deteriorating. I searched for half a year and scoured kijiji and salvage yards for a used frame. They seem to be in pretty high demand. The one i ended up getting could have been a bit better. I had to go by the pictures that were sent. The big thing is i'll have it back into Toyota this coming Friday to finalize the safety inspection with a new windshield and license plate light assembly and can get it registered in my Province. I've been driving it on an out of province insurance policy as there was a current safety certificate there. The insurance is set to expire May 2nd. :p So i was under the gun to get this frame replacement done in time.

Previously I tried to transfer insurance and get a safety in Manitoba with SafeTcaps. (front body mount and front quarter frame cap section) I installed on the old frame and it was deemed "improper frame repair" by our monopolistic provincial government insurance inspectors (Autopac).
They double check inspections on vehicles 5 years or 50000kms old routinely (especially on models like tacoma that have had a recall). If mechanic is caught passing failed inspections that they double check 5 times, they lose accreditation on their mech license to do safety inspections. Even though the frame had as much rigidity as new with the caps and new body mounts installed, they will only allow any repair work to be done with Toyota OEM parts only.
Mechanics are scared to take any chances passing anything that is sub par or modified. So i wasted $2000 and a lot of my own time welding (admittedly i'm not the best welder, but i believe i did enough to pass strength and rigidity, much better than it was anyway) to try and sling the issue past in an inspection with Safetcaps. Its been a real pain in the butt and a hard knocks learning experience for me. Had i been able to do an destructive investigation with a hammer claw when private purchasing i might have been able to detect the rot in the old frame, but that CRC coating that Toyota put on in 2016 (thought was 2017 but VIN report shows otherwise) really hid the issue from casual inspection. I'll admit i really screwed up and got taken by the previous owner. I figured it looked a lot like the surface rust i had on my 2007 rwd 2.7L taco frame, and i was very much aware of the frame recall issue at the time. Boy was I wrong. Morale of the story is, don't trust a casual inspection on the ground, i even videoed myself looking it over. It needed to be up on a lift and needed to look up and inside to see the rot, furthermore it needed to be hammered to reveal how deep the rot went. Maybe a potential Tacoma buyer will read this and learn from my mistake.

I really had serious plans to modify/upgrade this Tacoma already, but given the problem with the frame, there was no way to justify spending money on anything else (rims, wheels, vinyl wrap perhaps) until i bit the bullet and replaced the whole frame. Hell with all the money and time i've wasted i could have installed portals on it. :p lol

Sorry for the long rant. But its a story that i've been living over the last year or so and have lost a lot of sleep over. :p Its truly a joy and a blessing from God that i'm gonna get past it soon. Then on to improving the little things. ;) Thanks for the friendly place to ramble on here.

Thanks Musubi3. :) Yes. Initially i was a bit bummed out that it wasn't a TRD Off-Road. I was unaware when purchasing that i should have seen an E-locker for the rear diff and not LSD for it to be OR. However, i've now learned that the double cab long box were not available in the Off-road config options - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/which-trd-do-i-have.831544/#post-29801005 as per EveryDayIsTacoTues's reply here. In retrospect, the double cab and long box were more critical for me as this is a vehicle i am using to do trade work and after driving a Reg cab 2.7L rwd Tacoma for the last 7 years i really wanted the extra space in the cab and in the box as well. So i guess i wound up with the taco i needed instead of the taco i wanted. (all my frame replacement issues aside) :p

Ah didn't realize the chrome grill and bumper on OR as well. Knowledge appreciated. Learning a lot on here today. Great community! I feel ya on the decals. I catch myself looking for them on Tacomas in my neighborhood to try and identify the options they have. Maybe thats why i was thinking i needed them. TBH, i think i agree with you. It was more important for me to know what i had than to need to put a label on mine. ;P I have been thinking about doing a full paint job on it to a sand or taupe or even olive green. Have been considering perhaps doing a 3M vinyl wrap. I work as a floor covering subcontractor for last 35 years and heatwelded solid vinyl for the last 12 consistently. Pretty decent with a knife and heat gun. Just not sure how well that would hold up in Manitoba winters. Something tells me I'd be much better off with a good quality paint job instead.

    Thanks for the insight.

vinyl might work if the surface is good enough or potentially light wet sand to level and smooth it prior if there’s any issues from age

a nature color using something like Durabak sounds good. Not sure how it’d be done.

I just got my 2006 TRD Sport about a month ago. Mine has the 17 inch tires and Toyota rims. I've read that is part of the Sport trim from the factory.

I think matches what i've got Rickman1, i know these are 17" anyway. Final confirmation that i bought a sport i think. I like the upgraded alloy (black) rims though. Been shopping them last couple days. New rims and tires will be my first investment this year i believe. I added the new head lamps (Spyder) a short while ago. "Tacoma" grill will prob be the next after tires and rims. I struck a deer 2x in my last tacoma, the second time nearly wrote it off so i'm considering a complete bumper push grill w/ winch now too One more pic for the heck of it. :) thanks[IMG]

Glad it all turned out well in the end. Same as @Musubi3 I'm real particular about my spec, and like you having a DCLB was more important than other fun to haves. Yeah, those are the stock chunky Sport Alloys. Not sure what the market is like in the Great White North, but down here you'll find enough 3rd Gen take-offs to grab a good deal, while giving a little modern twist without breaking the bank. But I honestly don't hate the sport wheels if you're keeping the chrome look, they're thicc bois.

Good call TacoTues. ;) I asked Toyota dealership near me, that did the frame swap, if they happened to have any used black alloy (3rd gen i believe) 17" rims and so they did. Parts fellow said they retail for close to $2k CAN and could sell me the used ones for $800 in premium shape. I'm gonna grab em on my next pay period if i can swing it. Glad you mentioned it cuz wouldn't have thought to ask them. I don't mind the stock alloy for this model, but mine are beginning to oxidize and flake a fair bit. When i get them off i might powder coat and load some good winter treads on them for the winter and leave some mudders on the new ones maybe.

The frame swap and safety inspection passed on Friday with a new windshield installed (cracked slapping my wiper to clean ice off in last blizzard). I'd previously replaced steering assembly, rotors, ball joints, front axles. Previous owner did new exhaust recently. Nearly 10 months after i purchased it, i've finally got my truck insured in Manitoba. :p Woot! The nightmare is over. *sob. ;) lol
