So is it worth it to save 0.91 cent to waite and drive down the road to another gas station that doesn't open for another half hour. Also I would have to waite turn the truck off.

How much does it cost to drive down the road another 1/2 mile. And then turn the truck on again.?

It not worth it cause gonna come out the same or if the gas was way cheaper? I'm only saving 0.91?? Thanks

.91 cent a gallon, or total? if it's just 91 cents.... just save the time and get the gas. Gas mileage in my truck, that 1/2 mile would cost me 25 cents anyhow, lol. And if i'm coming back this direction that will be 50 cents added!

If you had to take time out of your day to make a post and ask on an Internet forum, IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

If it's $.91 total, I have better things to do. I have a Costco membership and the closest one is about 6 or 7 miles away, I've found if fuel prices are increasing, the Costco savings can be substantial. On the other hand, if fuel prices are steady or falling, the Costco advantage goes away and I purchase fuel at the nearby station with my cents off coupon if I have one. I get three cents off at the pump at Speedway with their reward card. Either way, I only purchase fuel at Costco when I'm in the area, I don't make a special trip. I also pay close attention to fuel prices as I drive by stations and have seen as much as $.30 difference in my area from one station to the other.

I live in the Utopia that is California, and I have often pondered your question.

Do I pay six bucks a gallon at the local gas station 2 minutes away, or do I drive my ass down to Costco which is like 20 minutes away, wait 15 minutes for a pump, and save 20 cents a gallon for a 12-15 gallon fill?

Gas stations in my area can be ridiculous. I've seen $1.00 difference across the street.

I usually stick to Fred Meyer (the Kroger brand in my area). Use the 3 cents off, but usually have more from getting our groceries there.

If that's a per gallon difference I'd just wait in the morning before going to the station or hit it while it was open. That's about a $16 savings filling up an almost empty tank.

If $.93 is the total savings then you need to worry about something else, not worth it in the least IMO.

I'm retired and my time is cheap but not that cheap.

    91c a gallon

tank is what 21? Depends how far you ran it.

    if it’s half tank
    Say you get 10 gal x 90c = $9

depends on time. Distance. Waiting. Idling.
If you’re already in the area.
If 30 minutes you can read. Truck ideally has a book inside. Books are good.

I deal with that all the time.
Cheaper at Costco. Farther. Gigantic line of people waiting to pull their vehicle to the wrong side of the bump.
And block cars from moving in the center as it’s designed because they felt like using the wrong side instead of the correct side. To scratch their paint with the pump and stand there in the center with it sticking out.

Costco made more sense in AZ. It was closer. From what I recall going there was $20. Gas was around $2. Couple years ago or so.
Might be slight better quality gas. Less tweakers. Less card skimming.

maybe chevron and shell is better quality. But costs more. I don’t think the truck cares.

Is your truck the 3rd Gen SR? 4 cyl? Say you get 20 mpg on avg. You'd be spending about 24 cents to drive there and back, therefore saving about 54 cents net (with Hawaii's gas prices for 87). Less, if your mileage is worse, like mine at 13 mpg in city. Time is valuable as well, so just depends how you value that.

probably an insignificant amount of cents

what makes you think anyone here has had a reason to conduct such an experiment

EngineeringExplained did a video on this explaining the balance between off/on versus keep idling based on amount of time.

this is not the vehicle to be counting cents on gas. At no point will you have any. That is not what it does. A spoon is not used to slice tomatoes.
