I'm heading to Ohio this weekend for a FJR forum meet and I'm sort of hoping one of the folks I know from out there might put me up for that weekend and maybe go along. Even if I have to ride in from an hour away that's not bad. The tent is sort of a last ditch way to attend on a budget. End of July should be plenty warm that a light blanket or 2 might get me by. I just want to have some form of roof over me in case of rain and a place to let my gear while I'm walking around.

humility is also another trait of those who tend to excel...just saying :D I'm sure you'll pick it back up real quick.

You're supposed to ride the bike, not the owner....

    congrats on the new bike!

I'd be curious to know how small that packs down...moto camping is definitely something I'd like to get into down the line. but it's a ways off for now I think. That one looks decent sized

Better check the Mid-Ohio site again. I go every year, but live about an hour away so I never stay. You cannot just by an admission ticket. You would have to buy the $265.00 weekend tent ticket and it includes admission.

Ouch! I sure AF missed that page. I mostly want to just go on Saturday but figure on riding out Friday as it's about 7 hours away from me. Main reason I want to attend is to meet Wendy Crockett only female winner of the Iron Butt Rally and get her to autograph my copy of her book.

I am an AMA member so I just went back to the site and looked. Weekend would run me $170 but that's still steep. Guess I'm back to looking at hotels within reasonable distance.

    Thanks for the encouragement

I'm halfway through the book now... when you brought up camping I was about to say you should just curl up and sleep in your bike cover like Wendy lol

She just recently joined the FJRiders.com forum and several of us have been chatting on there with her. I joked that maybe she could write me a note excusing me from work for that weekend. She did. I screenshot it and printed it out. I really want to get that signed as well. I'm starting to look at hotels a little further out and found some in Ashland, OH which would be roughly 40 minutes ride in and out from the event. Depending how this weekend goes I might just book that next week.

Well I learned a good lesson yesterday. As much as I want to THINK that I can start pushing weight again at 56 the truth is NO I CANT. I am not 30 anymore and have been pretty inactive since retiring a year ago.
So yes I was injured mainly for not warming up properly. From this day forward I will spend more time getting the muscles fully warm before I lift. I need to do a full body warm up with more stretching before I lift.
It’s not going to stop me right now because I can still do cardio and doesn’t effect my eating.
My old ego has been crushed and I don’t want that to happen again. Over all I feel good about being consistent so far just need to continue in a safer age related manner. LOL

That's awesome and too funny! Looks like a fun event will have to consider that... what you up to this weekend?

edit: nevermind, just read your other post that answered the question - have fun!

I can relate! We joined a gym last year in June and started going regularly. I used to lift when I was in my late 20's into my 30's then again for a while right after turning 40 when I injured my back and had to walk away for a long time. Started getting back into it over the past year and found out really quick I'm now old! More warm up, more recovery time, and less weight than I'd like. Quoting Toby Keith "I'm not as good as I once was"

Finally got my bike back up and running, took it out for a quick little ride today since the weather is nice. Need to put the front fender back on and adjust a couple of things but overall she’s riding good. Planning on getting through this season and then I’ll be doing a big tear down and rebuild in the winter to bob it out.

Super teneres keep coming down in price. Just listed 2016 non ES with 16k miles local to me..... The " @50Buck " Offer stands for anyone who wants to fly into Burbank airport pickup and head out from the area to ride home! (And not just for a super tenere haha) Screenshot_20240501_170609_Brave.jpg

If it still stands, I may wind up taking you up on the offer to go through the bike in the future. Gives me an excuse to get riding more and from where you are up through North Cali is a bucket list ride. I want to do it, but I'm just not at that comfort level yet. It's a goal.

My Tuareg made it up here this morning. Got out for a short ride around to make sure it still works and get gas.
